Other bacterial swabs are acceptable transported ambient within 24 hrs of collection. This molecular test is for detection of Neisseria gonorrhoeae in ocular, oral, mouth, rectal or throat specimens. Specimens sent with no swab, two swabs, or non Gen- Probe swabs will be rejected. This test can also be used for peritoneal fluid (pelvic wash, cul-de-sac fluid). Place 1 ml fluid in the transfer tube of the APTIMA swab collection system; write source on the tube. Identify specimen type. to AHL within 24 hours of collection. Within 1 hour of collection, add stool only until the liquid reaches the line on the vial, recap & mix well. Overfilled vials will be rejected. There is no time limit for return to AHL. Collect only one specimen per day. Note: 3 specimens collected 2 days apart, in separate vials, are recommended. Pinworm Paddle, 19 Collect specimen in AM before patient bathes or defecates.
