2 Target Audience MR Imaging: Radiologists, Physiatrists and Orthopaedists seeking to improve their skills in utilizing MR and interpreting images. Management: Physiatrists, Orthopaedists and Sport Practitioners interested in updating their skills in the diagnosis and treatment of concussion and musculoskeletal injuries. Description This course is uniquely designed for multidisciplinary learning. Thursday and Friday there will be separate, parallel tracks allowing registrants to focus on either Imaging or Management topics. Saturday, imaging and management lectures emphasize injuries in contact sports. The MR Imaging track focuses on MRI diagnosis in athletic injuries. Although the basic principles and protocols are covered, there is emphasis on advanced interpretation and current concepts. The Management track focuses on current concepts in the approach to patients with exercise-related symptoms and athletic trauma. Everyday practice situations and decision making are covered, with an emphasis on the pelvis and groin, running injuries, the female athlete and the role of platelet rich plasma in tissue healing. There will be live ultrasound demonstrations. Objectives Present current developments in Sports Medicine Apply advanced MR techniques in athletic injuries Correlate imaging findings with operative treatments Improve management practices in athletes Discuss minimally invasive treatments and the role of sonography Integrate imaging, orthopaedic and rehabilitation specialists Accreditation Harvard Medical School is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Harvard Medical School designates this course for a maximum of 21(Management Track)/21.5 (MRI Track) AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.
