1 SUMMARY Introduction Education is different from learning it entails the development and exercise of mental power. In common parlance education is understood as the school education generally the aim of education is to prepare a child for his future and to imbibe in him the potential to live Education implied self-knowledge and self enlightenment, but with the progress of time and as per the needs the meaning of education has kept on changing. Education is considered dynamic and a lifelong process, which is really more relevant meaning of education. The Problem A STUDY OF IMPACT OF SOCIO ECONOMIC STATUS & LEVEL OF ASPIRATION UPON THE PERSONALITY OF THE HIGHER SECONDARY STUDENTS Objectives of the present study To study the socio-economic status of rural & urban students. To study the level of aspiration of rural & urban students. To study the features of the personality of rural & urban students. To study the impact of socio-economic status on personality of rural and urban student. To study the impact of level of aspiration on personality of rural and urban students. 1.3 Formulation of Hypotheses 1
2 H 1 H 2 H 3 H 4 Significant difference will be observed in personality Factor A, Factor B, Factor D, Factor E, Factor I, Factor Q2 and Factor Q4 of fourteen HSPQ personality factors among higher secondary students on the basis of their socio economic status. Significant difference will be observed in Factor A, Factor B, Factor D, Factor E, Factor I, Factor Q2 and Factor Q4 of fourteen HSPQ personality factors among higher secondary students on the basis of their level of aspiration. Significant difference will be observed in Factor A, Factor B, Factor D, Factor E, Factor I, Factor Q2 and Factor Q4 of fourteen HSPQ personality factors on the basis of gender. Significant difference will be observed in Factor A, Factor B, Factor D, Factor E, Factor I, Factor Q2 and Factor Q4 of fourteen HSPQ personality factors among students on the basis of locality. Two Factor Interactions: H 5 H 6 H 7 Socio economic status and level of aspiration will show its joint effect upon Factor A, Factor B, Factor D, Factor E, Factor I, Factor Q2 and Factor Q4 of fourteen HSPQ personality factors among higher secondary students. Socio economic status and gender will show its joint effect upon Factor A, Factor B, Factor D, Factor E, Factor I, Factor Q2 and Factor Q4 of fourteen HSPQ personality factors among higher secondary students. Socio economic status and locality will show its joint effect upon Factor A, Factor B, Factor D, Factor E, Factor I, Factor Q2 and Factor Q4 of fourteen HSPQ personality factors among higher secondary students. 2

Level of aspiration and locality will show its joint effect upon Factor A, Factor B, Factor D, Factor E, Factor I, Factor Q2 and Factor Q4 of fourteen HSPQ personality factors among higher secondary students. Gender and locality will show its joint effect upon primary personality Factor A, Factor B, Factor D, Factor E, Factor I, Factor Q2 and Factor Q4 of fourteen HSPQ personality factors among higher secondary students. Three Factor Interactions H 11 H 12 H 13 H 14 Socio economic status, level of aspiration and gender will show its joint effect upon Factor A, Factor B, Factor D, Factor E, Factor I, Factor Q2 and Factor Q4 of fourteen HSPQ personality factors among higher secondary students. Socio economic status, level of aspiration and locality will show its joint effect upon Factor A, Factor B, Factor D, Factor E, Factor I, Factor Q2 and Factor Q4 of fourteen HSPQ personality factors among higher secondary students. Socio economic status, gender and locality will show its joint effect upon Factor A of fourteen HSPQ personality factors among higher secondary students. Level of aspiration, gender and locality will show its joint effect upon Factor A, Factor B, Factor D, Factor E, Factor I, Factor Q2 and Factor Q4 of fourteen HSPQ personality factors among higher 3

Four Factor Interactions H 15 Socio economic status, level of aspiration, gender and locality will show its joint effect upon Factor A, Factor B, Factor D, Factor E, Factor I, Factor Q2 and Factor Q4 of fourteen HSPQ personality factors among higher secondary students. 1.4 The Sample Rural Urban Total Boy s Girl s Boy s Girl s Tools Utilized A questionnaires of level of aspiration made by Dr. H.M. Singh and Dr. Govind Tiwari A questionnaires of socio-economic status made by R.L. Bhardwaj A questionnaire of Personality made by S.D.Kapoor, S.S. Shrivastava & G.N.P. Shrivastava. Statistics Used 1. The raw scores collected with help Socio Economic Status scale and Level of Aspiration scale and Personality scale will be tabulated. 2. The data collected was classified on Area (Rural and Urban) and Sex (Male and Female). 3. Mean, Sum of scores, standard deviation and squares of sum for all the sub groups will be calculated for Socio Economic Status and Level of Aspiration and Personality scores. 4
5 4. With the data obtained, 2*2*2*2, 4way ANOVA will be calculated to find the result. Results & Discussion Result 1 No statistically significant difference was observed in Factor A, Factor B, Factor D, Factor E, Factor I, Factor Q2 and Factor Q4 of fourteen HSPQ personality factors of selected subjects on the basis of their socio economic status. Result 2 No statistically significant difference was observed in Factor A, Factor E, Factor I, Factor Q2 and Factor Q4 of fourteen HSPQ personality factors of selected subjects whereas significant difference was observed in Factor B and Factor D on the basis of their level of aspiration. Result 3 No statistically significant difference was observed in Factor A, Factor B, Factor D, Factor E, Factor I, Factor Q2, Factor Q4 of fourteen HSPQ personality factors of selected subjects on the basis of gender. Result 4 No statistically significant difference was observed in Factor A, Factor E, Factor Q2 and Factor Q4 of fourteen HSPQ personality factors of selected subjects whereas significant difference was observed in Factor B, Factor D and Factor I on the basis of locality. Result 5 The two factor interaction effect of SES and level of aspiration upon Factor A, Factor B, Factor D, Factor E, Factor I, Factor Q2, Factor Q4 of fourteen HSPQ personality factors of selected subjects was found insignificant. Result 6 Two factor interaction effects of SES and gender upon Factor A, Factor B, Factor D, Factor E, Factor I, Factor Q2, Factor Q4 of fourteen HSPQ personality factors of selected subjects was found insignificant. 5
6 Result 7 Two factor interaction effects of SES and locality upon Factor B, Factor D, Factor E, Factor I was found insignificant whereas this effect was found significant upon Factor A, Factor Q2 and Factor Q4. Result 8 Two factor interaction effects of level of aspiration and gender upon Factor A, Factor D, Factor E, Factor I, Factor Q2, Factor Q4 of fourteen HSPQ personality factors of selected subjects was found to be statistically insignificant whereas this effect was found statistically significant upon Factor B. Result 9 Two factor interaction effects of level of aspiration and locality upon Factor A, Factor B, Factor D, Factor E, Factor I and Factor Q2 of fourteen HSPQ personality factors of selected subjects was found to be statistically insignificant whereas this effect was found statistically significant upon Factor Q4. Result 10 Two factor interaction effects of gender and locality upon Factor A, Factor B and Factor I of fourteen HSPQ personality factors of selected subjects was found to be statistically insignificant whereas this effect was found statistically significant upon Factor D, Factor E, Factor Q2 and Factor Q4. Result 11 Interaction effect of socio economic status, level of aspiration, and gender upon Factor A, Factor B, Factor D, Factor E, Factor Q2, Factor Q4 of fourteen HSPQ personality factors of selected subjects was found insignificant whereas this effect was found statistically significant upon Factor I. Result 12 Interaction effect of socio economic status, level of aspiration, and locality upon Factor A, Factor B, Factor D, Factor E, Factor I, Factor Q2, 6
7 Factor Q4of fourteen HSPQ personality factors of selected subjects was found to be statistically insignificant. Result 13 Interaction effect of socio economic status, gender, and locality upon Factor A, Factor D, Factor E, Factor I, Factor Q4 of fourteen HSPQ personality factors of selected subjects was found insignificant whereas this effect was found significant upon Factor B, Factor Q2. Result 14 Interaction effect of level of aspiration, gender, and locality upon Factor A, Factor D, Factor E, Factor I and Factor Q2 of fourteen HSPQ personality factors of selected subjects was found insignificant whereas this effect was found significant upon Factor B and Factor Q4. Result 15 Interaction effect of socio economic status, level of aspiration, gender and locality upon Factor A, Factor B, Factor D, Factor E, Factor I, Factor Q2, Factor Q4 of fourteen HSPQ personality factors of selected subjects was found insignificant. Educational Implications of the present study The present study is quite noteworthy if the findings attract the personalities. The educational implications of this study lies in their special attention. The present study is very much emphasizes the SES & LOA. The result of study attract the higher secondary school student personality & to focus the impact of their SES & LOA. Parent s social & economic status and students self level of aspiration are regarded as the channels for the development of the society & higher secondary students also. The study helps the personality of higher secondary school students and coordination to shape their better results in any type of achievement. Further, the policy makers should keep it in their mind that acquiring personalities is not only directs in the all round development but also depends in students environments, social status, aspiration level & their surroundings. 7
8 Suggestions for Further Researches A study of attitude of students towards teaching in relation to personality characteristics and intelligence. A study on level of aspiration and intelligence as function of culture and socio-economic status. The impact of adjustment and level of aspiration on the children of working and non- working mothers. Study of personality traits, intelligence, motivation, adjustment and socio economic status of Secondary School Students.
