TRAINING STANDARDS ROUTE FOR Certificatin Certified Internatinal Integrative Psychtherapy Trainer and Supervisr (CIIPTS) / Certified Internatinal Integrative Cunselling Trainer and Supervisr (CIICTS) 1. Basic requirements Certified Integrative Psychtherapist r Certified Integrative Cunsellr (CIIP/CIIP). Active membership in the Internatinal Integrative Psychtherapy Assciatin. 2. Preliminary training prcess During the training prcess the future trainer and supervisr is helped t grwn in his/her new rle by an experienced IIPA Certified Trainer and Supervisr. Bth need t have a healthy relatinship fcused the trainee s needs and genuine mutual respect. There are different stages in the training, which will require an attuned respnse by the principal Trainer Supervisr in a mdeling rle fr the candidate. The CIIPTS/CIICTS cmmunity als plays an imprtant rle in this prcess by supprting the wrk f the future Trainers and Supervisrs and their principal Certified Supervisrs. 2.1 Essential steps fr acquiring certificatin as an IIPA Certified Internatinal Integrative Psychtherapy Trainer and Supervisr (CIIPTS) / Certified Internatinal Integrative Cunselling Trainer and Supervisr (CIICTS): The trainee chses a principal Trainer/Supervisr wh agrees t perfrm the tasks f Trainer and Supervisr. The trainee writes a self-assessment f his/her basic perfrmance regarding the cre CIIPTS/CIICTS cmpetencies and discusses them with the principal Trainer/Supervisr. The Trainer/Supervisr and the trainee create a training plan t becme an IIPA Trainer and Supervisr and agree t a training cntract, taking int accunt the style, preferences, strengths and skills f the candidate and areas which require further develpment. The persn starts a perid f training befre his/her wn teaching with such activities as readings, attending wrkshps, cnferences, assisting the principal Trainer/Supervisr in his/her wn teaching. 5 Training Standards fr Certificatin (Revised April 2016): Internatinal Integrative Psychtherapy Trainer and Supervisr (CIIPTS) Internatinal Integrative Cunselling Trainer and Supervisr (CIICTS) Present a training prgram, which includes: Philsphy f training and supervisin. Cntent and training methds. Duratin: frequency f training sessins, wrkshps, training hurs, attendance requirement. Trainers in the prgram. Certificatin fr CIIP and CIIC. The wrkshp is designed t prvide in a grup frmat pprtunities t exchange prgrams and methds t assess basic cmpetencies f attendants regarding training and supervisin, persnal strengths and areas f future develpment. The wrkshp validates each candidate and gives recmmendatins t be taken int accunt by the principle Trainer and Trainee. The wrkshp acknwledges and validates the ability f the candidates t teach and supervise and identifies the lines f futures develpment in the rle f Teacher and Supervisr. The staff gives each participant written feedback t supprt future develpment. The candidate discusses the feedback with his/her principle Trainer/Supervisr and cnstructs a plan fr develpment. 2.3 Develping prfessinal cmpetences as Trainer and Supervisr: Assisted perid as Trainer and Supervisr f future CIP/CIC. The aim f this prcess is t fulfill a perid f develpment f persnal skills as Trainer and Supervisr in a relatinal cntext. There are several tasks and steps invlved: After having attended the Internatinal wrkshp the candidate starts a perid where he/she wrks regularly with the principal Supervisr t develp the identified lines f prfessinal develpment. During this perid the persn is expected t attend Internatinal training, wrkshps f teaching and supervising develpment, at least three within a five-year perid. A Learning Jurnal is maintained t facilitate internal awareness f persnal and prfessinal needs and imprvements. This is dne in an nging basis and it is discussed with the main Supervisr. The candidate develps a cntinuing prfessinal develpment plan (attendance at curses, cnferences, wrkshps, giving presentatins at natinal and internatinal cnferences, prfessinal meetings, written articles, etc.) and a plan fr persnal develpment (wn supervisin and psychtherapy). During this perid, nging evaluatin exchanges are carried ut with the principal Supervisr where attuned cnstructive feedback is received fr live demnstratins f teaching and supervising. The trainee and principal Trainer/Supervisr put tgether an annual reprt abut imprvement f basic cmpetencies. 2.4 Preparatin t train future Trainers and Supervisrs. After having cmpleted at least 200 hurs f teaching and 30 hurs f supervised teaching with a CIIPTS/CIICTS, and 300 hurs f experience n individual r grup supervisin and 50 hurs f supervisin n the supervisin with a CIIPTS/CIICTS, the candidate starts a perid f training aimed at supervising future Trainers and Supervisrs. This prcess invlves several tasks: The trainee writes a self-assessment abut his/her perfrmance n the cre CIIPTS/CIICTS cmpetencies t train future Trainers and Supervisrs and discussed them with the principal Trainer/Supervisr. The Trainer/Supervisr and the trainee agree n a training plan taking int accunt the trainee s needs, style, backgrund and areas which require further develpment. The trainee starts a perid preparatin befre starting the new rle by means f readings, attending wrkshps and cnferences. End f the training prcess: Acquiring the acknwledgement t teach and supervise future Trainers and Supervisrs. The end f the perid f assisted training and supervising is reached by a frmal prcedure carried ut at an Internatinal wrkshp. The prcedure is aimed at acknwledging and validating the attainment f a level f skills which allws the persn teaching and supervising t use the credential CIIPTS/CIICTS and t accept training cntracts f future Trainers and Supervisrs. Administrative requirements t attend this wrkshp: Having a certified recrd f 300 hurs f teaching and 50 hurs f supervised teaching with a CIIPTS/CIICTS. Having a certified recrd f 500 hurs f experience n individual r grup supervisin and 50 hurs f supervisin with a CIIPTS/CIICTS. Having at least 250 hurs f certified persnal therapy. Thse might include individual therapy, grup therapy and/r ther prcesses addressed t the persnal grwth and awareness. Applicatin fr Certificatin (frm available). Accurate Backgrund dcumentatin (frm available). Acceptance f the IIPA Cde f Ethics (frm available). Active membership in the IIPA. Payment f the fee fr the evaluatin. The wrkshp is designed t prvide, in a grup frmat, pprtunities t assess cmpetencies regarding teaching and supervisin. In a grup relatinal cntext the candidate is invited t shw cmpetencies t teach and supervise future Trainers and Supervisrs, t exchange infrmatin and t receive written feedback abut his/her cmpetencies. The teaching evaluatin is carried ut by means f a presentatin, abut a tpic included in his/her teaching prgram, using theretical and practical methds. The presentatin will be n lnger than 60 minutes and n less than 30 minutes. Included are the questins f attendees and evaluatrs abut the tpic taught. Fllwing questin time the candidate will receive feedback frm the grup f attendees abut the teaching sessin. The evaluating team will meet with the candidate and relatinally discuss hw the candidate demnstrated his/her cmpetencies as a trainer. The supervisin evaluatin is carried ut by means f tw live supervising sessins, with a future CIIP/CIIC and a future Trainer and Supervisr. Each supervisin sessin t be n lnger than 60 minutes and n less than 30 minutes. The evaluating team will meet with the candidate and relatinally discuss hw the candidate demnstrated hi/her cmpetencies as a supervisr. The final certificatin is presented by a written evaluatin with suggestins and recmmendatins fr further prfessinal develpment, if apprpriate. II. RESPONSIBILITIES f the Certified Internatinal Integrative Psychtherapy Trainer and Supervisr (CIIPTS) / Certified Internatinal Integrative Cunselling Trainer and Supervisr (CIICTS): Participates r prvides an nging training prgram fr CIIP/CIIC s: mnthly r regular wrkshps, curse, cnferences, individual r grup supervisin. Participates r facilitates Level 1 (CIIP r CIIC) evaluatin at Training Institutes. Participates r prvides an nging training prgram fr future CIIPTS/CIICTS: planning training, writing reprts, supervising live teaching and supervisin, writing annual reprts, prviding a cntactful relatinship in rder t respnd t trainees needs. Takes part in Internatinal wrkshps fr candidates in training CIIP/CIIC and CIIPTS/CIICTS. Takes part in Internatinal evaluatin bards fr CIIP; CIIC; CIIPTS; CIICTS. Certified Internatinal Integrative Psychtherapy Trainer and Supervisr (CIIPTS) / Certified Internatinal Integrative Cunselling Trainer and Supervisr (CIICTS). The trainee shws cmmitment t the philsphy f Integrative Psychtherapy. The trainee shws an ability t understand his/her strengths and limitatins, and plans his/her and thers prfessinal develpment. The trainee demnstrates his/her ability t maintain a healthy teaching and supervisry relatinship with trainees, a reciprcal relatinship with trainees and respectful attentin t relatinal needs. The future Trainer/Supervisr has the capacity t mdel the rle and methds f an Integrative Psychtherapy apprach as described by the Keyhle. Supervising cmpetencies: Applies an Integrative Psychtherapy philsphy and cncepts f the Keyhle t supervisin, using inquiry, attunement and invlvement in rder t facilitate an increased capacity fr cntact in relatinship, therefre increasing the supervisee s capacity fr self-awareness and internal cntact. Shws persnal integratin during the supervising prcess. Is respectful and attuned during supervisin. Has the capacity t identify the develpmental stage f the supervisee and be attuned t their prfessinal needs als. Is able t give the needed tls fr supervisees in the first stage f develpment, prmtes grwth f the psychtherapist/cunsellr in the intermediate stage and facilitates stimulus fr the advanced supervisr t cnsider alternative treatment appraches. Identifies key issues in the supervisin and relatinally addresses the issues. Engages in understanding the relatinship between the supervisee and the client. Can identify a parallel prcess during supervisin and address with attunement. Able t identify areas f prfessinal grwth, give feedback and supprt fr future grwth and develpment. Able t identify ethical issues in the supervisin, and/r the crrespnding issues between the supervisee s practices and lcal laws and address this respectfully in a cntactful relatinship. Is able t match the cntent and methds f teaching t the needs and develpmental stage f trainees. Prvides stimulus and supprts the mtivatin f trainees by being creative, facilitating experiences, using grup dynamics, presenting lectures, discusses cases, references texts, prmtes the persnal interests f the trainees. Structures and rganizes the cntent f teaching t the needs f the trainees. Able t reinfrce trainee s frmer r present experience t intrduce theretical cncepts and create a cmmn experience (such as live therapy, experiential exercises). Keeps a live and attuned interactin with the grup f trainees, identifies the grup prcess and uses it t prmte learning: adapting his/her rhythm t the grup needs, adjusting the level f teaching t the level f trainee s knwledge, taking int accunt the level f develpment f the trainees grup, their frmer cgnitive frame f reference, and the affective prcess. Able t identify in the trainee a lack f required knwledge, skills, attitudes, r cmmitment t the Integrative Psychtherapy philsphy and t address them in a cntactful relatinship and t build individual training plans. Able t identify cultural differences in the training prcess and take them int accunt. Evaluates difficulties in the relatinship that are interfering with the learning f trainees. Able t identify the learning prblems brught abut by intrjectins r childhd experiences. Has knwledge and an understanding f a range f ther teaching methds that can be used t meet the learning styles f trainees. IV. RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL) CERTIFICATION ROUTE FOR CERTIFIED INTERNATIONAL INTEGRATIVE PSYCHOTHERAPIST TRAINER AND SUPERVISION (CIIPTS) / CERTIFIED INTERNATIONAL INTEGRATIVE COUNSELLING TRAINING AND SUPERVISOR (CIICTS) The recgnitin f prir learning (RPL) certificatin rute is designed fr IIPA members wh have been actively practicing Integrative Psychtherapy r Cunseling and have trained (minimum f 180 hurs) within the Institute fr Integrative Psychtherapy, New Yrk, NY r The IIPA Cmmissin fr Standards and Certificatin CSC- 9

Requirements: Applicatin fr certificatin. Applicant backgrund dcumentatin. Acceptance f the IIPA Cde f Ethics. Tw endrsement letters. Curriculum Vitae. Outline f general thughts f a training prgram abut Integrative Psychtherapy. Persnal Perspective and thughts related t: Philsphy f training and supervisin. Methds f training and supervisin. Cntent and training methds. Certificatin fr CIIP r CIIC. Prcedure In a grup relatinal cntext the persn is invited t demnstrate cmpetencies t teach and supervise future Trainers and Supervisrs. The teaching evaluatin will be carried ut by means f a presentatin n a tpic related t theries and thery f methds f Integrative Psychtherapy. The presentatin is t be n lnger than 1 hurs and n less than 30 minutes. Included are the questins f attendees and the evaluatrs abut the tpic taught. After the ending f questins the candidate will receive feedback frm attendees abut the teaching sessin. Fllwing this the evaluatr s team will meet with the candidate t discuss relatinally the way the candidate shws cmpetencies as a teacher. Written feedback is given. The supervisin evaluatin is carried ut by means f a live supervisin. The time fr each supervisin sessin is n lnger than 1 hur and n less than 30 minutes. Fllwing this, the evaluatr s team will meet with the candidate and discuss relatinally the way the candidate shws cmpetencies as a supervisr. Again, written feedback is given. The candidate is presented with a final certificatin as an Internatinal Trainer and Supervisr (CIIPTS/CIICTS) with suggestins fr further develpment. Supervisin is ne f the majr cre cncepts in IP Training and in IP Cntinuus Educatinal prcess in each f the certificatin levels. T be a Certified Integrative Psychtherapist/Cunsellr and a Certified Integrative Psychtherapist/Cunsellr Trainer r Supervisr invlves the cmmitment in a cntinuing prcess f self-develpment and grwth in terms f learning and wrking thrugh prfessinal and persnal issues, as well as develpment f persnal and prfessinal skills. This supervisin prcess als ensures that the Psychtherapist/Cunsellr is receiving supprt and maintaining a surce fr satisfying the relatinal needs that ccur fr each Psychtherapist/Cunsellr in the prcess f wrking as a real persn in an invlved and attuned Psychtherapy/Cunseling I. DIFFERENT STRUCTURES FOR SUPERVISION In the IP training prcess we cnsider three main supervisin prcesses: A. Individual Supervisin Setting In this setting, the prfessinal can ask t present and wrk thrugh cncerns, dubts r different needs that the Psychtherapist/Cunsellr may encunter in his/her wrk with clients. The Psychtherapist/Cunsellr can als wrk n awareness, meaning and pssibilities f transference and cunter-transference, that she r he is experiencing in clinical cases. The persn wh wants t becme a CIIPTS/CIICTS will need the recmmendatin f a Main Supervisr wh knws her/his main strengths and specific needs fr develpment and grwth. The supervisry prcess has t be attuned and respectful f the particular skills and characteristics f the supervisee, as well as f their training develpment level. The credit f this supervisin is cunted in terms f the number f hurs wrking with a Supervisr, wh must be a Certified Integrative Psychtherapy Supervisr. The number f required hurs is a minimum f 150 hurs f which a minimum f 80 hurs f supervisin with a CIIPTS r CIICTS, a minimum f 40 hurs must be attained with the candidate s principle Supervisr. The remaining hurs can be attained, either befre r during IP Training, using ther appraches. The IIPA Cmmissin fr Standards and Certificatin CSC- 11

Individual Supervisin in a Grup Setting In this setting, the prfessinal can ask t present and wrk thrugh cncerns, dubts r different needs that the Psychtherapist/Cunsellr may encunter in his/her wrk with clients. The number f hurs t certify in an individual Supervisin in a grup setting is the exact amunt f time that the supervisee is presenting her/his casewrk plus fr each day f a 6 hurs Training/Supervisin grup we accredit. i. One hur if the trainee presents a persnal case plus One hur f the grup hurs if maximum f 12 participants r 1/3 rd if the grups is participants. ii. The Supervisr can accredit an extra hur f supervisin t a participant when he r she has given particularly imprtant feedback and cntributin t thers participant in this grup. C. Relatinal Grup Supervisin Setting The supervisin setting thrugh a Relatinal Grup Prcess invlves tw types f supervisin tgether in the same frmat. i. Individual presentatins frm each f the members f the grup abut her/his case (difficulties, dubts, therapeutic errrs etc ). ii. Supervisin as a relatinal therapeutic grup. That s it, each grup member must cmmit t give cntinuus specific feedback t the Psychtherapist/Cunsellr that presents a case, t relevant questins related t IP Cncepts, thery and thery f methds that the supervisee is applying and presenting in the case presentatin. Each grup member is als cmmitted t give theretical examples f her/his wn way f ptentially wrking with the client that the ther clleague is presenting, and remain attuned t the presentatin and respectful f the presenter. This kind f supervisin may include thery f methds, fr example psychdrama, empty chair experiment, rle-playing etc., the Supervisr may find this is useful fr the prcess. This supervisin setting requires an nging time-structure that allws each f the members in the grup t have time t resent her/his case, as well as t guarantee that each persn in the grup has time enugh t d this inter-supervisry prcess. All the members in this grup cmmit and undertake being aware f the strengths and needs f each member, tgether with giving mutual supprt. In this setting there are many simultaneus levels f prcess invlved due t the relatinal grup prcess f supervisin. As a cnsequence all the hurs devted t this kind f supervisin can be certified, recgnizing the value f the direct supervisin as well as the learning prcess that cmes with the grup presentatin frm ther members in the grup (explicit and implicit learning). The Supervisr will write the reprt fr the Certificatin prcess, having in mind all the prcesses and feedback cming frm this type f supervisin grup. COMPLEMENTARY PATHS IN THE SUPERVISORY PROCESS A. Self Reflective Supervisin Temprarily the Psychtherapist/Cunsellr r Trainer & Supervisr, may develp a reasnable self awareness and maintain an nging prcess wrking as an Integrative Psychtherapist/Cunsellr thrugh reflectin, writing case studies and listening (r transcribing) therapeutic sessins. Keeping a Learning Jurnal, fcusing attentin n her/his prcess f grwth abut the majr insights gained in her/his wn therapy and supervisin and is a creative persnal and prfessinal cmmitment. A Learning Jurnal can include ther infrmatin related t the Certificatin prcess, if she/he wants t share this as a dcument fr her/his persnal reasns, this shuld be dne thrugh her/his main Supervisr wh will use the infrmatin in the endrsement letter fr the certificatin prcess. Because the frmal supervisin prcess requires the direct participatin f a Supervisr, these training hurs cannt be certified. B. Peer Supervisin Grup This is an infrmal self-rganized grup f Psychtherapists/Cunsellrs, n the basis f mutuality, equality, respect and cmmitment t learning, wh meet t discuss tgether clinical cases and thery. As abve, since the frmal supervisin prcess requires the direct participatin f a Supervisr, these self-managed training hurs cannt be certified. II. TRAINERS & SUPERVISORS Certified Trainers and Supervisrs, t the greatest extent, are invlved and dedicated Integrative Psychtherapist/Cunsellrs in their wn prcess f imprving themselves, their theries and thery f methds. The ttal number f hurs required when applying t becme a Certified Trainer & Supervisr is a minimum f 200 hurs with a Certified Supervisr & Trainer. After the prcess f Certificatin she r he accepts the cmmitment t cntinue learning and supervising by her/his wn nging resurces f Supervisin and Training, and/r attending wrkshps, seminars etc., that the IIPA r prfessinal IP Assciatins may rganize regularly in the perid f ur biennial cnference. These hurs shuld be specifically abut supervising; teaching seminars and supervisry skills, taking int accunt psychtherapeutic and relatinal apprach and cnceptualizatin f teaching, supervisin and psychtherapy/cunselling. III. C.S.C. COMMISSION OF STANDARDS AND CERTIFICATION The Cmmissin f Standards and Certificatin has the gal f revising and imprving the Certificatin prcesses fr Integrative Psychtherapists/Cunsellrs whatever the level f develpment and specific needs f the prfessinal in her/his therapeutic apprach, methds and persnal integratin thrugh the Certificatin prcess. The main gal is t ffer supprt t the Assciatin members in the Certificatin prcess t extend, actualize and beneficial. In rder t ensure this prcess is well regulated and beneficial, the Cmmissin may request a cnsultatin frm mre advanced members in ur IIPA cmmunity in rder t receive external feedback n the CSC s undertakings. The quality f CSC s undertakings will be prtected by a Chair rtatin every 4 years and fr a rtatin f the Cmmissin s members, maintain at least ne-persn frm each cuntry, hwever, nt all the members will be substituted simultaneusly. IV. GENERAL OBSERVATONS, RECOMMENDATIONS AND COMMENTS Sme specificatins and cmments fr structuring Supervisin: i. Generally, with regard t Training supervisin, it is pssible t chse the Supervisr in private practice, hwever this may nt always be pssible when wrking in Natinal Institutes. The duratin f supervisin needs t be aligned by the number f members and hurs. It is nt recmmended mre than 10 members fr 6 hurs f grup supervisin. vii. It wuld be apprpriate fr a Training supervisin grup t meet at least 4 t 6 times per year. This dcument has been designed t ffer sme guidance and infrmatin t supervisees and Supervisrs.
