6 TOOL #1: INTENTIONS Intentions It is the message you give yourself about what you re planning on doing. INTENTIONS are the seeds that create our FUTURE ACTIVITY #1: Write down 3 intentions you have for attending this session

7 FOUNDATION: EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE Emotional Intelligence (EQ or EI) is a term created by two researchers Peter Salavoy and John Mayer and popularized by Dan Goleman in his 1996 book of the same name. We define EI as the ability to: Recognize, understand and manage our own emotions Recognize, understand and influence the emotions of others ACTIVITY 2: Emotional Trophies

8 The Influence of Emotional Intelligence Daniel Goleman s infamous book Emotional Intelligence: Why It Can Matter More Than IQ. In his book Goleman (1995) claims that only 20% of a person s success can be attributed to IQ. This claim prompted many researchers and academicians to explore and identify other factors that contribute the other 80% to a person s success.
