Demonstrated practical application of, and/or teaching experience in, the following areas: The key concepts, definitions and perspectives related to working with involuntary clients. The dual role of treatment and control which workers face in their relationship with involuntary clients and the associated balance between one s helping/therapeutic role and a legalistic/surveillance role.

Demonstrated practical application of, and/or teaching experience in, the following areas: The role of the social worker in a variety of gerontological settings. Assumptions and theoretical influences underlying practice with older adults and their families. Theoretical frameworks and their application into practice, especially life course perspective and strengths based concepts. The biological, psychological and social changes associated with the aging process. Individual and group work skills in intervention strategies with older adults and their families who face a variety of issues. Expert knowledge of the formal and informal service delivery systems for older adults in the province of Quebec. Families in later life, retirement, caregiving and care receiving, death of a spouse or partner, institutionalization, end of life care and the search for personal meaning. The unique needs of and challenges faced by specific populations of older adults that include: survivors of mass atrocity crimes; immigrants; older adults with a mental illness; and individuals who are abused. Self care practices for social workers to enhance wellness and reduce stress. Theoretical frameworks that inform social work practice include life course perspective, strengthsbased practice and empowerment.
