RESEARCH EXPERIENCE Dissertation Research August 2013 Anticipated Completion: July 2017 Proposal Approved: July Study title: Reconceptualizing Relationships in a World of Communication Objects and Narcissistic Processes. - This dissertation utilizes object relations theory, self-psychology, and gestalt theory to develop a conceptualization of smartphones as a special type of psychological object that pulls for unconscious narcissistic processes. The project examines how smartphones, with a particular object usage, have contributed to changes in our experience of being in relationship and how we define those relationships. - This project aims to contribute insight into the current nature of our relationships so that we can improve our interpersonal, therapeutic, and societal connections. Undergraduate Honors Research Project January 2009 April 2010

4 4 - Study title: The Effects of Exogenous Anandamide on Food Intake. - Developed, managed, and ran a pilot study investigating the effects of exogenously administered doses of anandamide on the food intake of rats. - Hypothesized that an exogenously administered dose of anandamide would increase food intake in food deprived rats. The final experiment was to test this hypothesis on rats exposed to the Activity-Based Anorexia (ABA) model. The goal was to curb weight loss observed in the ABA model. Research Assistant January 2008 December Oversaw student volunteers participating in an experiment looking at the effects of an individual s perception of hole size on golf-putting success and, vice versa, the effects of an individual s success on their perception of hole size. - Logged research data and assisted with the maintenance of confidential files.
