ADVOCACY STRENGTHS/AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT INTERVENTION Identifies barriers and investigates what alternatives are available Provides patient with reasonable alternatives, without necessarily involving the patient in the process Limited awareness of the potential of political influences May underestimate the meaning of barrier presented Requires significant supervisory guidance ADVANCED BEGINNER: Readily identifies barriers and locates other alternatives Sometimes collaborates with patient in creating alternative ideas Has a developing awareness of political influences and how to negotiate them Raises questions about the meaning of the barrier presented Often requires supervisory guidance
