5 AAOS Board Maintenance of Certification Preparation and Review: Spine November 4, 2017 Boston, MA DIRECTORS Johns Hopkins University; Bethesda, MD Recertification: 2015 is a Vice Chair and Professor of Orthopedic Surgery and Biomedical Engineering at the Johns Hopkins University. He is also Division Chief of the Johns Hopkins Orthopaedic and Spine Surgery practice in the National Capital Region. Dr. Khanna s clinical interests include the treatment of a wide range of spine pathologies using techniques ranging from MIS surgery to complex spinal reconstructions. Many of the patients that he sees are first treated with aggressive non-operative measures such as interventional pain management, physical therapy and medications before surgical options are considered. Dr. Khanna is actively involved in research, has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and book chapters and has edited several textbooks. Many of his publications focus on topics in minimally invasive spine surgery, outcomes after spinal surgery and advanced techniques in spinal imaging and image-guidance. Dr. Khanna obtained his undergraduate and medical degrees from Georgetown University and the Georgetown University School of Medicine. Subsequently, he pursued his orthopedic surgery residency training at the Johns Hopkins Hospital and then went on to the Cleveland Clinic Spine Institute where he completed a fellowship in spine surgery in the Departments of Orthopedic Surgery and Neurosurgery.
