2 PROGRAM DESCRIPTION The 2nd Annual Advances in Neurology is a full-day CME event that will provide clinicians with an update on diagnostic processes, cutting-edge technologies, and innovative management strategies in these major areas of adult neurology: movement disorders, epilepsy, stroke, headache, non-alzheimer s cognitive disorders, multiple sclerosis, and disparities in neurological care and outcomes. Patient simulators (actors) will interact with faculty to provide an enhanced learning experience for participants. EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES The Educational Objectives for this CME activity are supported by a comprehensive assessment of needs and identification of practice gaps. Identify appropriate treatment approaches for acute ischemic stroke and recognize cases that are appropriate for referral to comprehensive stroke centers offering acute endovascular interventions. Utilize the updated criteria for diagnosing and categorizing multiple sclerosis and create an effective comprehensive and holistic management plan. Generate a differential diagnosis for the patient with a movement disorder given the clinical presentation and history, and identify appropriate management options. Describe an appropriate movement disorder candidate for deep brain stimulation (DBS). Diagnose migraine, identify potential etiologies, and create an effective prevention strategy. Create appropriate epilepsy management strategies for women of child-bearing age. Determine which patients with epilepsy will benefit from surgical management. Evaluate potential strategies for addressing disparities in neurologic care at the patient-provider level. Recognize the non-memory symptoms of mild cognitive impairment (MCI). WHO SHOULD ATTEND? This symposium is designed for the practicing neurologist; other specialists in related fields (rehabilitation medicine, internal medicine, psychiatry); residents and fellows; and other healthcare professionals involved in the care of patients with neurologic disorders (nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, physical therapists, occupational therapists).
