1 ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE ANNUAL REPORT
2 All things are possible for one who ~ JESUS CHRIST, MARK 9:23 Inspired by God s love, we believe our work today creates possibilities for those we serve. ~ Betty Oldenkamp, President/CEO, LSS FROM THE PRESIDENT LSS serves people of all ages, faiths, races and economic status with professional, confidential and affordable services. LSS touched the lives of those we serve 61,144 times last year. As a premier human service agency, we work toward making all things possible, bringing a future filled with hope a future of success to people of all ages, families of all kinds and communities of all sizes. The agency has improved its use of standardized assessment tools to measure client outcomes. The use of dashboards and automated reports has helped programs monitor outcomes data more frequently to allow for programmatic adjustments when necessary. Residential outcomes continue to be positive; 85 percent of the children served were discharged home to family or a relative. This outcome is impressive considering LSS treats some of the most intensive cases in the state. Youth who participate in the Arise Reception Center are more successful. 92 percent of youth do not re-offend before court and 87 percent of families agree that they received helpful referrals to services. Becoming a parent has been a dream of ours. LSS has helped make that dream come true. ~ Adoptive Parents More than 96 percent of refugees resettled in Sioux Falls were employed in a full-time position within eight months of arrival. 89 percent of individuals who secured employment kept their jobs for 90 days. The average starting wage was $12.11 per hour and 97 percent had access to benefits. Youth in the USucceed mentoring program are remaining successful. 96 percent of students were on track to graduate with their class and 91 percent had a realistic plan for after high school graduation. 83 percent of older adults in the Better Together program experienced a decrease in loneliness. Betty Oldenkamp PRESIDENT/CEO, LSS BOARD OF DIRECTORS MALCOM CHAPMAN, Rapid City, Chair REED RASMUSSEN, Aberdeen, Chair Elect RITA KARELS, Sioux Falls, Secretary/Treasurer RICHARD AGUILAR, Sioux Falls DENISE AUSTAD, Sioux Falls PAUL BRUFLAT, Sioux Falls REV. 3 The LSS Work Training Program got my life goals back on track. After getting back to work and feeling more stable, I started communicating with my kids again. I want my kids to have a better life than I had. I know that being able to support them is the biggest thing I can do. ~ Father, Re-Entry Services OUR MISSION: Inspired by God s love, we care for, support and strengthen individuals, families and communities. LSS CARES Compassionate We will be empathetic in our interactions with others and non-judgmental in the delivery of our services. Appreciative We will acknowledge the quality, significance and magnitude of the contributions of our clients and employees and seek to develop their capacity. Respectful We will engage in collaborative and professional relationships with our clients, partnership organizations and each other. Ethical We will demonstrate our commitment to quality services and high standards in acts, words and deeds. OUR VISION: Lutheran Social Services will be the premier agency serving families in their homes or communities. OUR VALUES: Lutheran Social Services is a social ministry of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. As such, we believe that God s love compels us to serve and to value all people. Our core values are grounded by our faith in God they guide our hands and feet, our hearts and words as we serve our neighbors as God intended. Our core values guide our work with the people we serve and those who serve them. I ve seen the desperation of parents wanting to work and provide for their families turn into pure pride and happiness when they tell me that they were hired and begin their new job today. ~ Kristyne Duffy, Center for New Americans Strategic We will anticipate and respond strategically to service trends and our communities needs.
