2 Course Description Dual Energy CT (DECT) is an emerging technology that has shown tremendous potential to enhance diagnosis & tissue characterization, resulting in improved patient care. The educational objective of this intensive, 1.5-day course is to provide a comprehensive, focused review of the major basic & advanced principles of DECT scanning in the evaluation, treatment, and management of acutely & chronically ill patients. We will emphasize both the relevant technical considerations and clinical applications of DECT, as applied to the brain, head & neck, chest, abdomen & pelvis, vascular, and musculoskeletal systems. Didactic and interactive case-based lectures, as well as panel discussions and audience QA sessions, will highlight the pitfalls & challenges of implementing a clinical DECT program, along with tips for successful integration of DECT workflow into current care pathways & hospital practice. New This Year! The course will include a workstation based workshop to allow attendees to obtain practical hands on experience on post processing of DECT data sets. The workshop will include live demonstration of interesting image data sets on DECT technology specific workstations which will allow the attend to post process real data sets thereby enhancing practical learning experience. The workshop will also highlight the workflow issues related to DECT acquisition and pitfalls of DECT post processing. Please register early! Target Audience This course would benefit any general radiologist, subspecialty radiologist, radiology trainee (medical student, resident, or fellow), radiology technologist, or administrator at any level of training who requires a brief but thorough state-of-the-art, clinical update in the emerging technology of Dual-Energy CT, by leaders in the field. Learning Objectives Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to: Discuss physics and technical aspects of DECT and its potential for added clinical value compared to single energy CT Select the most appropriate and cost-effective imaging approach for specific clinical presentations of acute diverse disease conditions that may benefit from DECT imaging Apply emerging technology of DECT - along with related radiation dose and iodinated contrast reduction strategies - to the efficient care of their patients Generate and modify DECT protocols for routine clinical applications Utilize DECT to enhance diagnostic accuracy by improved tissue characterization to improve patient care
