2 Site Director: Nancy Weintraub, MD Sepulveda VA, Bldg 25, room B DESCRIPTION The fellow will see patients in the Geropsychiatry clinics at WLA and Sepulveda VA sites, the WLA Memory Clinic, and the WLA Neurobehavior Clinic. The fellow will have the opportunity to observe tele cognitive evaluations. The fellow will participate in Geropsychiatry seminars. GOALS 1. Develop skill in assessment and management of mood disorders in the elderly. 2. Develop skill in assessment and management of behavioral disorders in patients with dementia. 3. Develop skill in assessment and management of personality disorders in the elderly. 4. Develop skill in assessment and management of psychotic syndromes in the elderly. 5. Become familiar with basic principles of care in Geriatric Psychiatry. OBJECTIVES OBJECTIVES Learn comprehensive psychiatric assessment of elderly outpatients. Learn to manage chronic psychiatric care of elderly outpatients Learn to identify and manage delirium in the elderly inpatient. Become proficient in appropriate use of antipsychotic and antidepressant medications in the elderly in- and outpatient.
