What is Sleep? Sleep is a restorative recurring psychological state characterized by perceptual disengagement and resetting of the brain. Why do we Sleep? When we sleep our brain has the chance to organize our thoughts. During this time, the brain chooses which information to keep and which to throw away. Sleeping improves your memory, mood, alertness, and heath.
Why is Sleep Important in GRL-PWR Terms? GRL-PWR wants you to be the best you that you can be. This means always putting your best foot forward and continuing to stay positive. Sleep gives you the PWR and the energy to take on life s challenges and overcome your obstacles. A GRL-PWR Girl sleeps smart so that she is able to be alert and ready to make a difference in the world!
Tips for a Successful Beauty Sleep 1. Establish a Bedtime Routine Having set bedtime activities will help remind your body that it is time for sleep. Also, Having a set bedtime will help regulate your body s clock. 2. Turn off the Lights & Rise to the Sunshine This will help you regulate your circadian rhythm which is your body's biological clock. 3.Turn off Electronics Electronics have bright lights that trick your brain into thinking it is time to be awake. When you turn off your electronics before bed, your brain will know it is time to get into sleep mode.
Tips for a Successful Beauty Sleep 4. Leave your Worries Behind Your worries can keep you up at night. Try writing all of your thoughts in a journal away from your bed so that when you go to bed all your worries are written down somewhere else and you can focus on getting a good night s rest. 5. Exercise Daily 6. Comfort is Key You will sleep better when you are comfortable. Whether comfortable means a fluffier pillow, better mattress, or special bedding, comfort is key.
HOW MANY HOURS OF SLEEP DOES GRL-PWR NEED? GRL-PWR Girls 5-12 years old GRL-PWR Girls years old GRL-PWR Mentors

Dreams occur as your brain continues to organize your thoughts during sleep.
Did you Know? Many people learn to control their dreams through a phenomena called Lucid Dreaming? Lucid Dreaming is when the dreamer recognizes that they are sleeping! If mastered, lucid dreaming can be used as a tool to explore your own creativity.
HOW TO EFFECTIVELY DREAM Remember your dreams keep a dream journal and write the details of your dream down. This will help you identify common themes that may appear in later dreams. Reality Check Check the time, look away, and check it again, if the time changed then you are sleeping! It is difficult for your brain to keep up with every detail when you are asleep especially sequences like time, Other Signs: Distorted Images and Super Powers
There s an APP for That! The APP store has various apps that allow you to journal your dreams, set reality checks, and learn more lucid dreaming skills.
HOW TO CREATIVELY DREAM Once you have mastered your lucid dreaming skills, you can use them to your advantage. Allow lucid dreaming to help you explore your goals and fears. This will make you more confident to overcome the fears in the waking world as well as more eager to achieve your goals.

DREAMS INSPIRE ACHIEVEMENT Elias Howe invented the sewing machine after envisioning it in a dream. Madame C.J. Author, Mary Shelley, Walker dreamt about the wrote one of the most ingredients to her first hair famous novels, product of her cosmetic Frankenstein, after a company that soon made dream. her a millionaire.
DREAMS INSPIRE ACHIEVEMENT Basically, if you can dream it, you can achieve it! Your just have to use your knowledge to sleep better, dream better, and achieve better!
So what are you waiting for? Start your ritual, shut off your electronics and all your lights, download the APP, and write down your dreams. There are things that need to be invented, problems that need to be solved, and solutions to be made by you The Dreamer... Believer... Achiever.
