2 CORE Alcohol and Drug Survey National survey collected bi-annually at SCSU beginning in Random Sample of undergraduate courses on campus (stratified by department and grade level). Data collected anonymously during classes 75% of professors agreed to allow data collection. 98% of students present on data collection days participated.

A standard drink is equal to 13.7 grams (0.6 ounces) of pure alcohol. 12 SCSU Alcohol Policy Changes Policy Before 2010/2011 Academic Year Permitted Students 21 and Older to Consume Alcohol Residence Hall Students (21 years of age or older) are permitted to register alcohol into their residence halls, suites or apartments in the following quantities (per 24 hours) by providing ID and signing alcohol in at front desk: - six 12 oz cans/bottles of beer or 8 oz of liquor or 28 oz bottle of wine. Vaguer than present policy about expected behavior relating to alcohol and consequences of violating the policy - All students are expected to conduct themselves responsibly regarding alcohol use. - Residence Life staff reserves the right to request a medial evaluation for intoxicated students. - Students receiving a medical evaluation related to alcohol use will be referred to the University judicial system. - Upon return to campus, students have until the end of the next business day to make an appointment to with the Drug & Alcohol Resource Center and Judicial Affairs Office. Failure to do so will result in loss of Housing. - Emergency notification is made for all medical transports. Information about these PAST policies summarized from:

13 SCSU Alcohol Policy Changes (effective beginning in Fall 2010) Implemented Dry residence halls Students (and their guests) residing in West Campus, Neff, Hickerson, Chase, Wilkinson and Farnham Halls will not be permitted to register alcohol in any quantity. Requires University Police and Judicial Affairs Notification All incidents involving possession of alcohol by underage students. All incidents involving individuals who are of legal age who are believed to have provided alcohol to underage individuals. Hosts of a party, regardless of the age of the guests, will be referred to Judicial Affairs and risk losing the opportunity to reside in on campus housing. All second alcohol offenses. 14 SCSU Alcohol Policy Changes (effective beginning in fall 2010) Increased Consequences for Alcohol Offenses Residential students requiring transport to the hospital for an alcohol related concern will not be eligible to return to housing until they have successfully completed the requirements of the Judicial Affairs Office and Drug and Alcohol Resource Center. University Police will have the discretion of issuing citations for providing or possession of alcohol. Individuals found responsible may face the following penalties in addition to University judicial sanctions: Possession of alcohol (individual under the age of 21 on public or private property) 1 st offense - $ infraction and possible suspension of driver s license 2 nd offense - $ fine and possible suspension of driver s license - Providing of alcohol to an individual under the age of 21 (Host Party Law) 1 st offense - $ infraction 2 nd offense Up to a $ fine and/or imprisonment of not more than 1 year Information about these CURRENT policies summarized from:
