Safe Dosing Attitude & Behavior Study May 2018 GLM 18063
Research Objectives To further understand dosing behaviors for liquid pediatric medicine and attitudes toward ml dosing within the target market. To understand parents intent to change behavior to commit to ml dosing and using the correct dosing device after being exposed to the Safe Dosing advertisement. To identify segments with the parenting population so that messaging can be targeted to each unique parenting profile. 2
Methodology for Intent to Change Study GLM conducted an online survey with 1,400 parents of children between the ages of 4 and 6 years old. Respondents were randomly assigned to one of four groups: After being exposed to one of the ads, all respondents were asked the same attitudinal questions about liquid dosing behaviors. The analysis compared differences between those exposed to the Safe Dosing ad and those exposed to an Up & Away ad. The results of the survey were also compared to similar studies conducted in These results are referred to as baseline data and are shown when a comparison is appropriate. 3

Patterns & Correlations A very strong correlation exists between those who believe using a household spoon is okay for measuring OTC liquid medications and that OTC liquid medications are not strong enough to require precise dosing. 13
Appendix 14
Data Presentation Aided means the respondent was given answer choices (e.g., If prescription liquid medicine for your children ages 4 to 6 years did not come with a measured dosing device, what would you do?). Multiple Mentions means that respondents could provide more than one answer (e.g., Which types of medicine do you give your children who are ages 4 to 6 years when they need medicine?). One Response means that the respondent was only allowed to provide one answer (e.g., Which form of medicine do you prefer to use for your children who are ages 4 to 6 years?). n=1,400 is used to describe the sample size for a particular question (1,400 in this example). The sample size (n) may vary from question to question since some questions are only asked to a subset of respondents. Top Box refers to the most favorable answer on a scale (i.e., strongly agree (top box); slightly agree, neutral, slightly disagree, strongly disagree). The top-two box score would include both strongly and slightly agree. 15
