2 Page 2 of 5 NUMERACY QUESTIONS 1. Convert the following: 600 milligrams (mg) to grams (g) 2. Your patient requires 150mg of Drug A orally. The tablets available are 50 mg. How many tablets would you administer to make up the dose? 3. You are required to administer 40mg of Drug B to your patient orally. The stock solution available is 50mg/5ml. How many millilitres would you administer? 4. Your patient requires a dose of 75units /kg of Drug C. Your patient weighs 80kg. What dose of C do you need to give? 5. You need to administer an intramuscular injection of 250 micrograms of Drug D. The stock vials are 500micrograms /ml. What volume would you administer? 6. Your patient requires a prescription for antibiotic E. The recommended dose is 7.5mg/kg every 8 hours orally. Your patient weighs 24kg. What would each dose be in milligrams (mg)?

At 2.00pm she has a glass of orange juice (180ml). What is her total fluid intake over the six hours? 8. A bottle of Drug G contains 250ml. How many days will the bottle last if the daily dose is 5ml twice a day? 9. Drug H is available as a 150mg/1ml solution. A patient is prescribed 90mg as a once daily dose. How many milliliters (mls) does the patient need to take to make up the correct dose? 10. Your patient has been prescribed 180mg of drug Y by intramuscular injection. The solution available is 100mg/ml. What volume would you administer?
