2 Other Regulations... 4 Town of Mamou Sunday Sales Village of Pine Prairie Sunday Sales City of Ville Platte Sunday Sales Other Regulations... 7 In the Parish of Evangeline, it is illegal to sell or serve alcoholic beverages or, for businesses that sell alcoholic beverages to be open for business between the hours of 1 a.m. and 7 a.m. Monday through Saturday and between the hours of 1 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Sunday. Sunday Sales In the Parish of Evangeline, there are no laws prohibiting the sale of alcohol on Sundays. Page 2 of 7 v. 0413
3 The Parish of Evangeline does have laws governing noise created by businesses. Generally speaking, you should not create a level of noise that disturbs your neighbors. For specific requirements of the noise ordinance, you should consult an attorney. In the Parish of Evangeline, it is legal for people to leave with open containers of alcohol. The Parish of Evangeline requires employees of a business that sells or serves alcoholic beverages for on- premise consumption to receive a certificate of qualification from the Sheriff s Office, Criminal Division prior to the beginning of employment. The employee must present a health certificate from the parish health unit and documentary proof of age and shall be photographed and fingerprinted. The cost of this permit is $5. This permit must be carried by the person to whom it was issued and the holder of the permit must notify the Sheriff s Office of any change of employment at least 48 hours in advance. Waiters, waitresses, carhops and busboys who work for a business where the main thing sold is not alcohol are not required to obtain a permit. The Parish of Evangeline does not require any form of local server training. Other Regulations It is illegal to sell or serve alcoholic beverages of more than 3.2 percent alcohol by volume in Wards Four and Five in the Parish of Evangeline. In the Parish of Evangeline, it is illegal to allow exotic, nude or topless dancing in a licensed establishment. Town of Basile In the Town of Basile, no one may sell alcohol between the hours of 1 a.m. and 6 a.m. Monday through Friday and 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. Page 3 of 7 v. 0413
4 Sunday Sales In the Town of Basile, there are no laws prohibiting sale of alcohol on Sunday. The Town of Basile does have laws governing noise created by businesses. Generally speaking, you should not create a level of noise that disturbs your neighbors. For specific requirements of the noise ordinance, you should consult an attorney. In the Town of Basile, it is illegal for anyone to have a glass container or hard liquor or wine on Municipal Park property. The Town of Basile does not require any form of alcohol server permit, Bar Card or ABO Card. The Town of Basile does not require any form of local server training. Other Regulations In the Town of Basile, it is illegal to sell or serve alcohol to someone that is known to be a habitual drunkard or lunatic. Town of Mamou In the Town of Mamou, no one may sell, consume alcohol, enter or be inside of a business where alcohol is sold between the hours of 1 a.m. and 7 a.m.. Monday through Saturday and between the hours of 1 a.m. till 12:01 p.m. on Sunday. Owners, managers and their employees may remain inside of a business that sells alcohol during prohibited times. Businesses with a Class B off- premise or Class R restaurant license may stay open during prohibited times so long as they do not sell or serve alcohol. Page 4 of 7 v. 0413
5 Sunday Sales In the Town of Mamou, it is illegal to sell alcohol between the hours of 1 a.m. and 12:01 p.m. Sunday. The Town of Mamou does have laws governing noise created by businesses. Generally speaking, you should not create a level of noise that disturbs your neighbors. For specific requirements of the noise ordinance, you should consult an attorney. In the Town of Mamou, it is illegal for anyone to have an open container of alcohol in a vehicle or on public property except from the last Saturday before Mardi Gras to the end of Mardi Gras day. The Town of Mamou does not require any form of alcohol server permit, Bar Card or ABO Card. The Town of Mamou does not require any form of local server training. Village of Pine Prairie In the Village of Pine Prairie, there are no laws governing when alcohol may be sold or served. Sunday Sales In the Village of Pine Prairie, prohibiting sale of alcohol on Sunday. The Village of Pine Prairie does have laws governing noise created by businesses. Generally speaking, you should not create a level of noise that disturbs your neighbors. For specific requirements of the noise ordinance, you should consult an attorney. Page 5 of 7 v. 0413
6 In the Village of Pine Prairie, it is illegal for anyone to consume alcohol in public areas, public parking lots or in the vicinity of the parking lot of any business establishment or on any street or highway. The Village of Pine Prairie does not require any form of alcohol server permit, Bar Card or ABO Card. The Village of Pine Prairie does not require any form of local server training. City of Ville Platte In the City of Ville Platte, it is illegal to sell, or allow consumption of alcohol between the hours of 1 a.m. and 6 a.m. every day. It is also illegal for anyone to consume alcohol in any public place between the hours of 1 a.m. and 6 a.m. every day. Sunday Sales In the City of Ville Platte, there are no laws prohibiting the sale of alcohol on Sundays. The City of Ville Platte does have laws governing noise created by businesses. Generally speaking, you should not create a level of noise that disturbs your neighbors. For specific requirements of the noise ordinance, you should consult an attorney. Page 6 of 7 v. 0413
7 In the City of Ville Platte, it is legal for people to leave a licensed establishment with open containers of alcohol. The City of Ville Platte requires anyone who sells or serves alcohol in a saloon or behind a bar or anyone employed by a beer parlor to obtain from the Chief of Police of the City of Ville Platte, a Certificate of Qualification. No Certificate of Qualification may be issued to anyone under the age of 21, unless that person is married and at least 18 years old. The City of Ville Platte does not require any form of local server training. The new state law that requires servers to attend this course also says that servers do not have to attend local server training courses if they participate in a state-approved course. By 2000, you will have to participate in state-approved courses. Other Regulations In the City of Ville Platte you must be 18 to handle, serve or work with alcoholic beverages. The City of Ville Platte does not recognize exceptions under state law for persons under the age of 18 to sell alcohol in an establishment with a Class B Off- Premise consumption license. In the City of Ville Platte, licensed establishments must keep the premise well lighted and all outside doors and windows must be open for view from the sidewalk or outside. Page 7 of 7 v. 0413
