Restaurants, cafes and cafeterias may not sell alcohol between the hours of 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. every day. Package liquor stores and grocery stores may not sell alcohol between the hours of 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. every day. Leaving premises with alcohol In, it is legal for customers to leave the premises with open containers of alcohol. does not require servers or managers to get local server or Bar Cards. does not require any form of local server training. The new state law that requires servers to attend this course also says that servers do not have to attend local server training courses if they participate in a state- approved course. By 2000, you will have to participate in state- approved courses. All licensed establishments must keep their premises well- lighted and all doors and windows open to view from the sidewalk outside. City of Grosse Tete In the City of Grosse Tete, no servant, agent, or employee of an establishment shall sell, use, consume, giveaway or otherwise dispose of any alcoholic beverage, whether by cash, open account, credit, or club membership dues, between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. on the same day. An organization or club which has as its primary purpose philanthropic or charitable causes is exempt from ordinance. In the City of Grosse Tete, there are no laws prohibiting the sale of alcohol on Sundays. The City of Grosse Tete does have laws governing noise created by businesses. For instance, no permit authorizing the sale of any alcoholic beverage under this chapter shall be granted for any premises situated within 300 feet or less of a parish or municipal playground or of a building used exclusively as a regular church or synagogue, public library, school, full- time day care center, or a correctional facility housing inmates, including but not limited to a halfway house. There are exceptions to this law such as a hotel or fraternal organization. Please review with your manager or owner what is and is not allowed at your particular location. Leaving premises with alcohol/open container laws In the City of Gross Tete, no person shall consume an alcoholic beverage or liquor while standing, walking, sitting, or riding on any public street or sidewalk of the village, or on the grounds outside of any business or building. The state law that requires servers to attend this course also says that servers do not have to attend local server training courses if they participate in a state- approved course. Special permits are required for outdoor (parking lot etc.) activity. Town of Maringouin In the Town of Maringouin, you may not sell or serve alcohol between the hours of 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. every day. Restaurants, grocery stores, drugstores and other such businesses may remain open, however all alcohol must be kept locked up in a cabinet or cupboard during the prohibited times. In the Town of Maringouin, there are no laws prohibiting sale of alcohol on Sunday. The Town of Maringouin does have laws governing noise created by businesses. Leaving premises with alcohol In the Town of Maringouin, it is illegal to possess an open container of alcohol or consume alcoholic beverages on the public streets, sidewalks, right- of- way, park, playground or other public space. The Town of Maringouin does not require any form of alcohol server permit, Bar Card or ABO Card. The Town of Maringouin does not require any form of local server training. The new state law that requires servers to attend this course also says that servers do not have to attend local server training courses if they participate in a state- approved course. By 2000, you will have to participate in state- approved courses. In the Town of Maringouin, it is illegal to sell or serve alcoholic beverages to someone known to be a habitual drunk or lunatic. City of Plaquemine In the City of Plaquemine, alcohol may not be sold between the hours of 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. every day. During the prohibited hour, bars, nightclubs and lounges must be closed for business. Package liquor stores and grocery stores may remain open for business but alcohol may not be sold between the hours of 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. Restaurants, cafes and cafeterias may remain open but may not sell alcohol during prohibited hours. In the City of Plaquemine, there are no laws prohibiting the sale of alcohol on Sundays. The City of Plaquemine does have laws governing noise created by businesses. Leaving premises with alcohol In the City of Plaquemine, It is illegal to sell alcohol from a window or door facing a sidewalk, street or public right- of- way. It is also illegal to consume alcohol or to carry an open container of alcohol while standing, sitting, driving or walking on any public sidewalk, street or grounds outside of any business. Exceptions may be granted for events sponsored by a non- profit organization. In the City of Plaquemine, each employee who may sell alcoholic beverage must be informed of the laws of the City of Plaquemine and of the State of Louisiana regarding alcohol sales to underage people. Each employee, owner, or authorized representative of a business that sells alcohol is required to sign a statement that he or she understands that the sale of alcoholic beverages to underage people will result in criminal prosecution and could result in termination of employment. This statement will be kept on file by the city clerk. In the City of Plaquemine, bartenders are required to obtain a Bartender s License from the Chief of Police before starting work as a bartender. The cost of the license is $25. Bartenders must keep this license on them at all times while they are at work. It is the responsibility of the owner of each licensed establishment to make sure that all bartenders of that establishment are have the proper Bartender s License. The City of Plaquemine does require not require any form of local server training. The new state law that requires servers to attend this course also says that servers do not have to attend local server training courses if they participate in a state- approved course. By 2000, you will have to participate in state- approved courses. In the City of Plaquemine, it is illegal for a licensed establishment to hold wet T- shirt, bathing suit or lingerie contests or exhibitions. In the City of Plaquemine, it is illegal to employee anyone under the age of 21 in a business where the main thing sold is alcohol. If the main thing sold is not alcohol and the business has an On- premise license, people under 21 may be employed but may not handle alcohol. Businesses with an Off- premise license may employee people under the age of 21 to sell alcohol so long as proper supervision is provided. In the City of Plaquemine licensed establishments must keep the premise well lighted and all outside doors and windows must be open for view from the sidewalk or outside. Page 6 of 7 v. 0413

7 In the City of Plaquemine, employees are required to check the identification of all persons who purchase alcohol who appear to be 35 or younger. In the City of Plaquemine, licensed establishments are required to post signs, visible upon entering at the checkout counter or bar where alcohol purchases are made, stating that no alcoholic beverages will be sold to minors and that identification will be checked.
