We use only the correct amounts of the right raw materials and monitor all stages of the process as they are being carried out. This ensures that: The product can be traced with regard to raw materials, completed work stages, devices/equipment for analysis and the persons who carried out the processes. The product is analysed and approved in accordance with the necessary analysis method, including the calculations related to the processing of analysis results, if analysis is included in the manufacturing process. The product is packed in the correct package. The product is individualised as its own batch according to the manufacturing date or other batch marking. There is a sufficient stock and a sufficient operational life once the product is delivered to the customer. 5

7 Quality Maintaining high quality is the most important aspect of our operations, and this covers all areas of our business. We applied for a quality system certification in accordance with SFS-ISO 9002 in 1994, which was updated to SFS-ISO 9001 in Laboratory accreditation Accreditation helps our laboratory maintain even higher quality for the sake of our and our customers' business operations. Our laboratory was accredited in accordance with the SFS-EN ISO/IEC standard in April Global development leader Metrology in chemistry is the basis for the reliability of chemical measurements. We are global leaders in this area and among the first to have applied the latest metrology requirements in chemistry in practice. Reliability and availability Delivery reliability means delivering the ordered product or service in accordance with the agreement between the buyer and seller: At the agreed time To the agreed place Via the agreed delivery method At the agreed price With the agreed quality We have been investing in the best possible delivery reliability for 30 years; this is one of the prerequisites for good overall quality. We monitor delivery reliability systematically and regularly, and the level has consistently been between 95% and 99%. We store all products in our warehouse in Finland to ensure our customers receive their products at the agreed time. We invest in operational reliability since we understand that in many cases our products ensure continuous production even in large production plants. What is suitable quality for you? The laboratory and research chemicals are generally produced using a batch process. This results in batch-specific variation regardless of the quality rating. The easiest way to ensure product quality is to request a batch-specific analysis certificate. We have set product-specific standards for all products that affect the analysis results, and these need to be met before accepting the product for the market. Consistent quality of laboratory chemicals between different batches is especially important. A high-quality laboratory chemical is also the least expensive option. Problems arise if different batches of the same product contain considerable variations with regard to concentration or a specific impurity. The value of measured products in an industrialised country is at least half of the GDP; in Finland this means tens of billions of euros. It is estimated that measuring alone makes up 3-6% of the GDP. Chemical measurements cover half of all measurements, so improving quality has great financial significance. An error of one per cent in determining the metal content of minerals and ore can represent an inaccuracy of tens of thousands of euros per shipload. United States Department of Health and Human Services has calculated that a 3% error in cholesterol measurements leads to 5% of the results being incorrect (either positive or negative). Treatments started due to incorrect results and new, unnecessary measurements cause additional annual expenses of USD 100 million. 7

These measurements are: Mass Temperature Air Pressure Relative Moisture of Air The analysis results of the accredited qualification have traceability into the international chemical measurement standards, for example HCL 0,1 mol/l analysis result is traceable to NIST standard reference material (SRM) Comparison research of conductivity standards with DFM. On going: 2014 ph intercalibration measures with PTB The laboratory is equipped with the standard air conditioning system.
