1 DECATUR CITY SCHOOLS Decatur, Alabama July 31, 2018 BOARD NOTES The Decatur City Board of Education met in special session on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. at the Central Office. Board Members present were Karen Duke, Donnie Lane, Dwight Jett, Michele King, and Peggy Baggett. Dr. Michael Douglas and Mrs. Melanie Maples were also in attendance. Mrs. Maples presented the bank account changes to the Board; which consist of opening a new account for Austin Jr. High and the new Career Tech Center as well as closing the Brookhaven Middle School account. The bank account changes were approved as submitted. Dr. Douglas presented the certified and non-certified personnel agenda and it was approved as presented. Dr. Douglas recognized several of our retirees. RETIREMENTS: Nella Fletcher - 39 years at Developmental Suzanne Vaughn - 21 years at Austin High Cathy Wallace - 27 years at Elementary Dr. Douglas also recommended that naming of the career tech center. The name that the committee picked was Career Academies of Decatur and it was approved unanimously by the Board. Dr. Douglas asked Mr. Dwight Satterfield to review the discipline report from the school year. Mr. Satterfield reviewed the disciple and attendance for the district. This item did not require a Board vote. Board President, Karen Duke, introduced Kim Benos from AASB to review and present the Superintendent Evaluation. Kim Benos had lots of positive comments concerning Dr. Douglas and the evaluation.
