3 PPFA Strategic Planning Process PPFA began a strategic planning process ten months ago that would create a shared vision to carry Planned Parenthood forward into the future. Their timetable - bring a vision and strategy to the PPFA annual meeting in Since January 2010: There has been a significant and far-reaching engagement of federation stakeholders that touched more than 1,000 individuals. The process has been iterative cross-representational groups tested initial ideas and then these ideas were distributed for broader input.

5 In order to promote responsible sexual behavior to reduce the physical, emotional and social costs of unplanned and unwanted pregnancy, PPAU is committed to: A. Providing accurate information and education to individuals of all ages concerning the emotional and physical aspect of human sexual behavior and reproduction; B. Providing affordable, high quality reproductive health care services; C. Protecting and advocating for the reproductive rights of individuals to understand and manage their reproductive rights

6 A Responsible Choice for a Healthier Life It still resonates. Living in Peace with our Planet It still resonates. We need to put sex education and sexual health care in the hands of young people-give them the information and power to shape a healthier future. We will continue to be the go-to source for sexuality education and sexual health information and care for young women, young men and teens. We will continue to protect and advocate for sexuality education and reproductive rights for women, men and teens.

Empower and educate young people to ensure their sexual health and well-being 3. Develop the language and digital networking tools to equip a new generation to lead grassroots campaign and social action efforts

Use language that young people and their families will really listen to about the importance of expanding access to sexual health services and protecting the legal right to abortion 2. Increase partnerships to promote the sexual health of youth including LGBTQ and make sexual health central to the overall well-being of the next generation 3. Engage health professionals, parents, educators and religious leaders in advocating for and delivering improved sex education, information and services to young people

16 Continued Legislative Work Decrease barriers to health care and abortion Ensure monies for birth control State monies for Title XIX low income abortions Medically accurate sex ed in our schools Messaging Hire professional PR firm to establish language that is appropriate for Utah Time for new conversations with a new generation VOX Student groups at a majority of campuses in Utah Increase Partnerships Professionals, Legislators, educators, religious leaders, parents to ensure accurate sex ed and access to health care

17 IV. Continue to build our political expertise to include grasstops advocacy and ensure access to our services 1. Build grassroots, grasstops and public support, as well as partnerships with medical providers and others to ensure access to care for men, women and young people and their families 2. Ensure that men, women and teens have access to all FDA approved contraceptive methods and devices regardless of ability to pay 3. Continue to protect access to legal and safe abortion and women s health through state based advocacy grassroots mobilization

18 1. Build teen leadership programs: Teen Talk/Teen Council, Teen Success, Wise Guys 2. Continue working with community coalitions 3. Expand family strengthening programs: GUCF parent/child retreats Continue Jovenes Sabios/Wise Guys/Circle of Friends with Centro 4. Partner with a research institute to prove GUCF effectiveness

19 CLINICAL SERVICES 1. Open a new site somewhere in the Salt Lake Valley we are bursting at the seams in South Jordan and West Valley again! 2. Pills online 3. 2 nd Tri-Abortions 4. Pursue one new research project every year

20 PUBLIC POLICY 1. Work with the State Legislature to ensure family planning monies are included in the Utah State budget 2. Increase grasstops/grassroots advocacy 3. Increase VOX chapters throughout the state 4. Continue to battle anti-choice legislation
