Conducted formative research for the CDC Web-based HIV Behavioral Surveillance Project (WHBS) and the CDC National HIV Behavioral Surveillance Heterosexual (NHBS-HET) cycle. Coordinated WHBS and NHBS-HET project activities. Organized and developed materials, such as reports, web-based documents and risk assessment questions for WHBS and NHBS. Provided expert technical assistance to community based organizations and directly operated department of health programs for program design, implementation, and monitoring and outcome evaluation Project Coordinator, Sudanese Refugee Food Survey Research Project, Emory University, Atlanta, GA Identified Sudanese refugee families living in Atlanta perceived to be at risk for food insecurity. Recruited and train three interviewers to conduct focus groups and administer surveys. Developed materials for use in interviewer trainings and questionnaire development. Organized three focus groups with Sudanese women to collect specific, contextual information needed to develop a culturally and locally appropriate prototype instrument for nutritional assessment. Coordinated administration of 60 questionnaires and managed a six-person research team Teaching Assistant Anthropological Perspectives & Strategies in International Health, Emory University, Atlanta, Ga HIV/AIDS Researcher, Perinatal HIV Research Unit, Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital, University of Witwatersrand, Soweto, South Africa Primary author of the research protocol and IRB proposal for a qualitative study to explore the needs and worries of a group of HIV positive women and to examine their patterns and determinants of serostatus disclosure. Coordinated 50 in-depth interviews with HIV positive women at the Perinatal HIV Research Unit and the Zola Clinic in Soweto and trained two facilitators to conduct focus groups and key-informant interviews. Analyzed over 500 pages of transcribed data from the 50 in-depth interviews. 4
