1992-2014 Associate Medical Director Anesthesiology Services University Medical Center The Associate Medical Director s duty is to manage the daily operating room schedule as efficiently as possible, maintaining patient care, and medical student and resident education. To accomplish these responsibilities, the Associate Medical Director: is in charge of the daily operative schedule, ensuring that the 50-60 elective, add-on and emergent cases are attended to in a timely fashion. makes appropriate attending and resident anesthesia case assignments. provides the personnel to respond to emergency consults in the emergency room (traumas) and inpatient units (e.g., STAT intubations, codes). oversees preoperative and postoperative (PACU) consults. acts as a liaison between anesthesia, operating room personnel and the surgical team, which often requires mediation skills and crisis intervention. staffs his/her own operating room with the accompanying supervision and teaching of assigned resident or CRNA. 1992-2012 Anesthesiology Schedule Coordinator For the past 20 years I was been responsible for scheduling approximately 30 clinically-active faculty members to satisfy manpower needs of our busy Operating Room, including night and weekend coverage. The schedule must work in concert with faculty s outside scheduled commitments (i.e. research time).
