As part of CAE ICCU Imaging's Curriculum on the Use of Bedside Ultrasound in Critical Care, the curriculum is very clinical and designed to teach basic principles of sonographic examination as an extension to the physical examination. The FOCUS curriculum goes through the basics of ultrasound, assessment of the main cardiac views and anatomy, LV and RV function, the pericardial space, and fluid status, via a combination of online didactic content and live seminar training. This longitudinal learning approach allows participants to optimize understanding of cardiac anatomy and integration of the key clinical concepts. PADIS Toxicology Conference November 5, 2011; Libin Theatre Health Sciences Centre, University of Calgary The Poison and Drug Information Service (PADIS) is pleased to announce that registration for our one-day clinical toxicology conference in Calgary on Saturday, November 5th, 2011 is now open. This conference will allow physicians, nurses, pharmacists, paramedics, and students the opportunity to learn more about caring for poisoned patients. The conference will feature a series of lectures from experts in clinical toxicology, pharmacology, laboratory medicine, and law enforcement. The day will also include a pediatric toxicology patient simulation session hosted by the Alberta Children s Hospital KidSim program, one of PADIS partners. In addition, PADIS is hosting an Open House from 1-5pm on Friday, November 4th. Come meet the staff, join them for their Question of the Week educational rounds from 2-3pm, and enjoy refreshments. 5
