Befre the practice pprtunity Field Advisr Respnsibility: p Becme familiar with the safety and risk definitins in the SDM plicy and prcedure manual. Have a cpy f the manual available fr reference during the meeting with the trainee. p Determine with the trainee which ptin frm the activity descriptin abve (active case r bservatin) is mst apprpriate. Sme cnsideratins include: trainee s case/caselad assignment, trainee s psitin and jb respnsibilities within the agency. p Wrk with the trainee t select a case fr this field activity. p Wrk with the trainee t identify a case fr which a team meeting t discuss safety and/r safety planning is needed r scheduled. The field advisr may need t cntact ther unit supervisrs r scial wrkers t identify a case. p Once a case has been identified fr this activity, arrange a brief meeting with the assigned scial wrker t review the purpse f the trainee s bservatin. p Wrk with the assigned scial wrker t btain permissin frm the family fr the trainee t bserve the meeting. p Once the family has given permissin fr trainee t bserve the meeting, wrk with the assigned scial wrker and trainee t set up a brief meeting t discuss imprtant backgrund infrmatin. As an bserver, the trainee will cmplete the bservatin wrksheet, which will be reviewed with the field advisr fllwing the meeting. Scial Wrker Respnsibility: p In partnership with the field advisr identify a case fr which a team meeting t discuss safety and/r safety planning is needed r scheduled. p Once the family has given permissin fr trainee t bserve the meeting, participate in a brief meeting with the field advisr and assigned scial wrker t becme mre familiar with the case t be bserved. The field advisr will facilitate the discussin. The field advisr may ask questins abut: Purpse f the team meeting What rle will the scial wrker be playing in the meeting (facilitatr r participant)?
