Arcadia House Programs Directions Health Services, through its Arcadia House program, draws upon therapeutic community principles to offer a unique range of treatment interventions for people seeking to withdraw, abstain and maintain their abstinence from substance use

Arcadia House Programs Arcadia House delivers a unique combination of non-medicated withdrawal, residential rehabilitation and non-residential rehabilitation programs within the same facility and run concurrently. Non-Medicated Withdrawal Withdrawal: 7-14 days, non-medicated withdrawal Residential Program 12 week program comprising 8 weeks residential (living on-site) and 4 weeks day attendance (or 12 weeks residential if deemed necessary) Day Program Day Program: 12 week program, clients attend Mon-Fri 9am 4pm Day program clients complete the same program as residential clients and are very much members of the community.

Components of Admission Admission Pack Provides background information on the philosophy of Arcadia House Programs Buddy The buddy is a more senior peer that will show the new client around and help them settle in to the program Case Management Individual Treatment Plans All residents receive clinical case management. Involves counselling support, education, information, advocacy and coordinating the provision of services by other agencies, according to clients goals to ensure their holistic needs are met

Staged Approach Arcadia programs have three discrete stages of 4 weeks We recognise the importance of graduated transition back into the community therefore incorporate a four week step down in stage 3

Exit Planning Exit Planning intensifies once the client has reached stage 3 The COCO attends final case management sessions at Arcadia to ensure there is thorough hand over of all components of the client s exit plan. Completion Clients have a graduation ceremony and receive a certificate of completion, Directions note book and peer and staff signed graduation bear.

Post Discharge: Continuum of Care The COCO provides aftercare support once clients have exited Arcadia House Programs Unplanned Discharge: Continuum of Care The COCO engages with clients who have an un-planned exit (disciplinary discharge, self-discharge) to provide ongoing case management and support Referral & Ongoing Support Clients are provided with ongoing support until the client decides they no longer require the service or the right treatment pathway has commenced

Pre Admission Benefits of Continuum of Care Support Intensive case management monitors and optimises readiness to change Administrative preparation (e.g. gathering supportive documents) is expedited Enhanced wrap-around support through collaboration with other agencies Barriers to treatment more readily addressed Post Admission Supported graduated transition back into the community Ongoing support and case management, including relapse prevention Enhances wrap-around support through collaboration with other agencies

Consumer Input Directions Community Advisory Group (CAG) is a collective of current and past clients who shape and improve Directions work. The CAG provides consultation and advice to Directions Board and Management to ensure services: are informed by and responsive to client needs; are delivered in partnership and support clients to achieve their goals; and result in improved outcomes for clients, families and the community All Directions clients have the opportunity to join the CAG, some of whom are Arcadia graduates. CAG meetings are held six times per year with one-two meetings held at Arcadia House to specifically consult with residents.

Female, 55yrs Client experiences of Arcadia s Continuum of Care I was floundering, giving up hope seeing doctors and psychologists. After connecting with Directions, early support painted a picture making a concrete plan that made me feel safe and made me feel that I was deeply cared for It came as a shock that the Day Program wasn t to be my plan, but the plan that was for me, [residential] was better than I had hoped Post support has given me the opportunity to access a different type of therapy-very happy. Male, 51yrs Important that they work one on one prior to admission Best drug support agency I have come across. Obviously you workers love what you do Extremely satisfied with case management after care support-which is still ongoing.

Male, 27yrs Client experiences of Arcadia s Continuum of Care (continued) Unreal support going in. Sorted a heap of things for me. Case management was awesome To this day best thing I have ever done Support after continues the care. Female, 33yrs The weekly support going in was beneficial to have because it gave me the opportunity to talk about my current situation. The post support kept me on track and knowing I could commit to something made me feel less isolated.

Outcome Measures Arcadia House utilise a range of client satisfaction and outcome measurement tools Satisfaction In 2018, of those clients who provided feedback: 100% were satisfied with the services they received from Arcadia House 100% found Arcadia House to be a safe place 100% described the staff as professional, accepting and supportive 90% said they would recommend Arcadia House to a friend Mental Health Outcomes - Psycheck Clients who completed a Psycheck between July 2017-June 2018 experienced significant reductions in mental health symptoms as a result of their engagement with Arcadia House programs.
