INTENSIVE PROGRAM The STOTT PILATES Intensive Program (Level 1) is intended for those already working in the fields of fitness or movement, or those who have completed the Functional Anatomy course and meet the Pilates class requirements. The focus is on expanding student s current knowledge while delivering complete instruction in STOTT PILATES principles and Essential and Intermediate exercises in a fast-paced format. This option is ideal for those who are unable to devote the amount of time required in our Comprehensive Program due to work and/or scheduling issues. Intensive Program choices: Intensive Mat-Plus - IMP Intensive Reformer IR Intensive Cadillac, Chair & Barrels ICCB After completing any of these programs students will be prepared to teach the entire Essential and Intermediate repertoires. INSTRUCTOR BIO Yu-Chen Huang Alignment Fitness Studio Yilan County, Taiwan Yu-Chen Huang was born and raised in Taiwan. She graduated from National Taiwan College with a Master of Physical Education in Dance Theory before going on tour with Ku & Dance group. She learned about STOTT PILATES in 2012, after looking for a way to reduce the chances of injury from long-term high-intensity training. The benefits she realized through the method inspired her to share STOTT PILATES with more people. She was honored to become a Merrithew Instructor Trainer specializing in STOTT PILATES Matwork and Reformer in 2015. She is currently working at the Merrithew Licensed Training Center in Taiwan, the National Yi- Lan University and St. Mary s Junior College of Medicine, Nursing and Management as a certified instructor/ lecturer and also provides professional coaching at government facilities and private sports centers. Intensive Cadillac, Chair & Barrels ICCB This course is intended for those already working in the fields of fitness or movement, as well as those who are unable to devote the time required in our Comprehensive Program due to work and/or scheduling issues. Conducted over 3 weeks or 4 weekends. Students registering for this course must have completed Intensive Mat Plus or Intensive Reformer. The Cadillac, Chair, & Barrels course has been structured into three separate modules; ICAD, ICHR and IBRL, to give you maximum flexibility. Completion of all three modules is required to be eligible for certification. Intensive Cadillac ICAD Building on your industry knowledge and the material learned in IMP or IR you learn to design and lead the Level 1 Essential and Intermediate STOTT PILATES Cadillac repertoire for personal or group training settings for a range of clients. 125 exercises on the Cadillac Trapeze Table What you will learn: A variety of exercises performed on the Cadillac Trapeze Table through the full Essential and Intermediate repertoire To become better acquainted with the Cadillac as a tool to create complete workouts or as a complement to routines featuring Matwork and other equipment To observe and experience a variety of exercises utilizing the Cadillac s features including the Roll-Down Bar, Push-Thru Bar, Trapeze, Leg and Arm Springs The goals of each exercise, biomechanics and alignment, as well as cueing and correcting for safety and effectiveness How to apply the STOTT PILATES Five Basic Principles to a variety of exercises, variations and modifications Familiarity with the safety guidelines and application of the equipment for a variety of clients Requirements of certification 25 hours of instruction and supervised teaching Minimum of 10 hours of observation Minimum of 15 hours of physical review Minimum of 10 hours of practice teaching Total: 60 hours
Observation, Practice Teaching & Physical Review A minimum number of hours of observation, practice teaching and physical review are required for all courses and should be completed between instructed sessions at any STOTT PILATES facility. Additional training may be required before certification. Practice teaching and physical review hours must be logged outside of class time and submitted at the time of the practical exam. Observation Includes watching sessions taught by a STOTT PILATES Certified Instructor or relevant STOTT PILATES videos. Physical Review Means physically performing the exercises learned in class. Taking a class with a STOTT PILATES Certified Instructor or working out with video can qualify as physical review hours, and can be completed individually or with other students. Practice Teaching Hours can be fulfilled by instructing family, fellow students, friends or clients. Note: There are no hours required for Injuries & Special Populations or Advanced Level courses. Intensive Stability Chair ICHR Building on your industry knowledge and the material learned in IMP or IR you learn to design and lead the Level 1 Essential and Intermediate STOTT PILATES Stability Chair repertoire for personal or group training settings for a range of clients. What you will learn: Functional exercises to develop core strength against spring resistance in a variety of positions, including standing, sitting, prone and side-lying How to apply the STOTT PILATES Five Basic Principles to Essential and Intermediate-level Stability Chair exercises Better understanding of movement essence and exercise goals, proper execution and muscle activation How to improve core stability, increase peripheral strength and enhance mobility on one piece of equipment How the split-pedal option transforms exercises by challenging bilateral, unilateral and reciprocal strength and stability Cues and corrections for safety and effectiveness Requirements of certification 15 hours of instruction and supervised teaching Minimum of 5 hours of observation Minimum of 10 hours of physical review Minimum of 10 hours of practice teaching Total: 40 hours Continuing Education Credits CECs: STOTT PILATES 1.5 REPs 6.0 canfitpro 4.0 ACE 1.5
Intensive Barrels IBRL Building on your industry knowledge and the material learned in IMP or IR you learn to design and lead the Level 1 Essential and Intermediate STOTT PILATES Ladder Barrel, Spine Corrector and Arc Barrel repertoire for personal or group training settings for a range of clients. What you will learn: How to apply the STOTT PILATES Five Basic Principles to exercises on the Arc Barrel, Spine Corrector and Ladder Barrel Exercises from the STOTT PILATES Essential and Intermediate Barrel repertoire To understand movement essence and exercise goals How to support the spine in flexion, lateral flexion or extension, to target core and peripheral muscle groups, and to adapt exercises to specific body types How to incorporate the barrels into a full-body workout and program for specific body types, postural issues and conditions To develop effective communication and observational skills, verbal cueing and imagery for performance enhancement and client motivation Requirements of certification 10 hours of instruction and supervised teaching Minimum of 5 hours of observation Minimum of 10 hours of physical review Minimum of 5 hours of practice teaching Total: 30 hours Continuing Education Credits CECs: STOTT PILATES 1.0 REPs 6.0 ACE 1.0 canfitpro 4.0
