The Science of Sadhana Science of Sadhana Advanced Training Delve deeply into the heart of yoga and discover more about the meeting of ancient traditions and contemporary research in order to inspire, educate and empower your students. The ancient techniques of yoga are now beginning to be studied by researchers worldwide, and what is being found is astounding! This training is equally practical and theoretical. We dedicate our self to the understanding of the human body, advanced sequencing, teaching & practice methods and delve into the heart of the science and practice of yoga. We interweave our daily sadhana and learning with up to date research by Senior Yoga teachers also engaged in the academic study of yoga and mindfulness. We learn not just techniques and philosophies to share with our students, but how and why these techniques work. All levels of experience welcome, teacher trainees, experienced teachers and new teachers alike will benefit from this unique training. This weekends are fully catered with food by Nood with chai, tea and snacks. Join us to nourish your body and mind and connect and learn with other teachers. 2
Weekend One May 7 + 8 Saturday 12-8pm 12-2pm Opening: Living the Yoga Sutras Delve into the Yamas & Niyamas and the Yoga Sutras to learn how to live Patanjali s philosophies in your practice, life and teaching. 2-5pm Science Meets Sadhana Understanding Research into Yoga & Meditation There is now a huge body of scientific research when it comes to Yoga & meditation. Rob Schutze helps us understand the science of spiritual practice and will discuss how we use different research models to determine the effectiveness of a treatment such as yoga. 5-8pm YOGA as Movement Therapy I Drawing on research we will learn how to use yoga asana to restore a natural state of harmony in the physical body. Learn how to lead your students through practices which will nurture and restore balance, knowing your planning is based on the best mix of western evidence and eastern practices. Sunday 12-8pm 12-3pm Yoga for Pain I: Understanding the Puzzle of Persistent Pain We all fear pain in ours and our student s bodies. In these series of lectures Rob will share his specialty interest in the science of pain and the practice of yoga & mindfulness for pain with you to deepen your ability to work with your own pain or that of your student s. 3-5pm Adjusting Workshop I Revisit the basics of adjusting and spend time learning how to adjust restorative, beginner, Intermediate & Advanced Asanas. Includes the why and how to of adjusting. 5-8pm YOGA as Movement Therapy II Drawing on research we will learn how to use yoga asana to restore natural state of harmony in the physical body. Weekend Two May 14 + 15 Saturday 12-8pm 12-3pm Yoga for Pain II: Pain, Brain & the Person In Part Two Rob talks about what works for pain, how he works with chronic pain clients, and helps you get a better understanding of what the research tells us about the evidence based treatments for pain. 3-5pm Adjusting Workshop II Revisit the basics of adjusting and spend time learning how to adjust restorative, beginner, Intermediate & Advanced Asanas. Includes the why and how to of adjusting. 5-8pm Advanced Anatomy & Pathology I Learn about a variety of common and not so common injuries and how to adapt your classes for these students and build in postures and sequencing that will assist in their rehabilitation Sunday 12-8pm 12-3pm Yoga for Pain III: Contemporary Yogic Perspectives on Pain In Part Three Rob explores the relationship between what we know about the science of pain and sadhana (spiritual practice). Drawing on psychology, mindfulness and Yoga Philosophy including the kleshas Rob helps us understand pain in a yogic context 3-5pm Advanced Anatomy & Pathology II Learn about a variety of common and not so common injuries and how to adapt your classes for these students and build in postures and sequencing that will assist in their rehabilitation 5-8pm Restorative Yoga Workshop Dr Jean Byrne Join Jean for a nurturing restorative yoga sequence for vitality, relaxation & renewal. Take some time to slow down and be with the breath & the body as you complete your weekend of training. 4

Yoga teachers registered with Yoga Australia or Yoga Alliance receive 32 Continuing Education points. Students considering teaching yoga or who wish to simply learn more about yoga & research are welcome. Yoga Therapy students may credit these hours towards their Yoga Therapy Training Hours with Living Yoga Therapy. Catering We will have vegan, Gluten Free light lunch, snacks and chai!
