Kohl s All Kids Healthy The Kohl s All Kids Healthy program works with before and after school programs, preschools, elementary schools and other organizations to provide education about childhood obesity prevention focusing on healthy eating and physical activity. A key component of the Kohl s All Kids Healthy program is CATCH (Coordinated Approach to Child Health). CATCH is an evidence-based, national program that teaches kids about making smart food choices and provides them with minutes of fun, physical activity every day. CATCH has been implemented in after school programs and preschools in the Des Moines metro area. Educational presentations for students, parents and school staff are available upon request. The Center for Advocacy and Outreach at Blank Children s Hospital is a statewide resource for education and information regarding children s issues. We use the expertise of our health care staff to enhance the development of safe and healthy children in our community. We also advocate to our legislators on behalf of children and families to ensure the laws that are passed work to improve the health and safety of children and youth. Kohl s commitment to Blank Children s Hospital is made possible through the Kohl s Cares cause merchandise program. Through this initiative, Kohl s sells $ books and plush toys, where 00 percent of the net profit benefits children s initiatives nationwide and we are proud to share we have raised nearly $0 million through the merchandise program! Healthy for Life! This year the Kohl s All Kids Healthy program reached out to the various schools we work with to ask students to draw artwork for the calendar. Students were asked to design their artwork around the theme Healthy for Life! As you will see, the children included many ideas of health in their drawings. Whether it is the food you eat, physical activity, sleep, or brushing your teeth daily, these kids know what it takes to maintain a healthy body for a lifetime! In keeping with the tradition of our calendar, each month will have additional information about the monthly topic and recipes posted to our website at www.. We would like to thank the students in the PACES program at Perry Elementary in Perry, IA and the Metro Kids program at Studebaker Elementary in Des Moines, IA for their submissions of artwork!
