CORE ENERGETICS Training and Certification Programs Grounding in Core Energetics (2 years) Certified Core Energetics Practitioner (4 years) Montreal, Quebec, Canada
TO LIVE FULLY ALIVE The key to this work is to find the courage to face and feel all that we are so that we can be our true selves and become fully present. When we take the risk to let go of our defenses and commit ourselves to living the experience of feeling our true feelings, moment by moment, we increase our awareness and we become more fully alive. By doing so, we choose to be true to ourselves and from this experience emerges our capacity to love and heal.
Grounding in Core Energetics (2 years) A two year program designed to provide a theoretical and practical base of knowledge in Core Energetics. This training program is created for anyone who is seriously engaged in their own personal process of transformation, desiring to deepen or discover their own transformational and evolutionary path. This program is also intended for those who are particularly involved in addressing areas of conflict in human relationships, such as therapists, social workers, life coaches, teachers, mediators, entrepreneurs, business women and men, etc. This two year program is focused on developing our capacity to better know and love ourselves. Since our capacity to help and receive the other is in a direct relationship with our own capacity to unconditionally welcome all that we are, this in turn becomes one of the most important factors in creating meaningful and nourishing relationships in both our private and professional lives. We will work in groups to better understand our individual wounds and the defense structures created to protect ourselves from opening up to others and to ourselves. Different techniques will be used to help circulate energy in our bodies to facilitate the integration of our own personal history. The focus will be placed on staying present, while observing in minute detail, every piece of our individual defense mechanisms. It will be an adventure. You may consider this training program as a journey to the very heart of your being. It will be a difficult challenge, as it will ask each and every one participating to commit to their own process of transformation, while taking the risk to be completely present and honest; to be fully in their truth. It will be surprising. As we work deeper with energy and consciousness, our unconscious will reveal itself and unexpected emotions may come up at any point in the process. It will be exciting and energizing. It will allow each person to connect with their Higher Self and discover unknown aspects of themselves, as well an immense supply of creative, pleasurable, joyful and loving energy. It is the journey back home to our true selves. The certificate will be issued by Core Energetics of Montreal. This program is subject to change.
The second level will go on for the following two years. It is designed for those who want to become Core Energetics practitioners. These two (2) additional years will be dedicated to learning energetic techniques and deepening understanding of The way of the Hero, the way of the heart. By living more and more in alignment with our Higher Selves, the emergence of specific qualities from each participant will allow them to develop their leadership skills and strengthen their own capacity to heal themselves. This four year certificate will be issued by the Institute of Core Energetics New York. During the first two years of the training, students of both levels will be in the same training group. Requirement: complete the inscription form and meet a member of the faculty. Content description of Core 1 (1st year of training program) Core I The theme for the first year is understanding the personality and the developmental history of a person. The mind, spirit, energy, emotions, personality and defenses are studied based on their interaction with the physiological body. The year is the foundation upon which the knowledge of Core Energetics (CE) is built. In addition, students will learn about themselves, how they block their own creativity, movement, and life force. Courses FOUNDATIONS OF CORE ENERGETICS: REICH, LOWEN, PIERRAKOS An overview of the origins of Body Psychotherapy and of Core Energetics; an outline of Wilhelm Reich s vision and life work and his understanding of orgone energy and it's role in health; Reich s emphasis on the body and it s energy economy; the life work of John
Pierrakos MD and his role in the development of Bioenergetics with Alexander Lowen MD; the influence of Eva Broch and the Pathwork in the creation of Core Energetics. ENERGY & CONSCIOUSNESS An introduction to the Core Energetics model of energy and consciousness. Students learn and experience the different manifestations/states of the life force (energy) in the body including: vibration; pulsation; streamings; charge and discharge, expansion and contraction; flow and stasis; flooding; and energy leaks and blocks. Principles of the energetic dimension of pain and pleasure are presented. Exercises work to connect students more consciously with their own condition of embodiment through breathing, movement, expression of feelings, and grounding. OVERVIEW OF THE CORE MODEL OF PERSONALITY An overview of Core Energetics Personality theory including the mask (adaptive personality) and idealized self-image, the lower self (destructive current), and the higher self (authentic integrated self that expresses our essence of love). Students learn through demonstration and personal experiences the qualitative energetic differences of these aspects. This class also presents the pyramid model of the human being in which mind, body, feelings, will, and spirit interact holistically. (Note: Mask, Lower Self, and Higher Self will be explored in depth in year 2). GROUNDING/BREATHING/FEELING/MOVEMENT This class covers the four areas that are central to healthy energy flow, pulsation, and a full experience of aliveness. Topics include: grounding at the different levels of the pyramid model; grounding in the different character structures; grounding techniques; grounding in the therapeutic situation; theories of breathing in CE; breathing techniques to open physical and emotional blocks; breathing differences among the character structures; staccato breathing; the relationship of breathing to feeling; characterology as a disruption of natural movement patterns and the relationship of movement to feeling. AN OVERVIEW OF SEGMENTAL ARMORING Basic theory of armoring and presentation of Reich s theory of muscular repression; an overview of seven body segments (ocular, oral, cervical, thoracic, diaphragmatic, abdominal, and pelvic) and related issues; an overview of how the different segments are related to specific character defenses; exploration through movement, breathing and experiential exercises to open energy flow and feeling in and through the segments of the body.
IMAGES Theory of images in CE as implicit memory and frozen energy; exploration of images to understand negative behavior patterns and unconscious beliefs; how belief systems, projections, & unconscious attitudes shape behavior, the energy of the body and the experiences we create and recreate; how images are formed; the vicious cycle. Experiential work in class helps students to understand their own deep images and how these are out-pictured in their life. BODY CONSCIOUSNESS:The Developmental Movements that Integrate the Body A predominantly experiential class that allows participants to experience in their own bodies the early movements of the developing child which form the basis of healthy energy flow and assertion. These movements integrate torso to limbs, head to torso, upper limbs to lower limbs, and the right and left sides of the body. The movements include: cell vibration and breathing; navel radiation; the sucking reflex; creeping and crawling. Discussion of these healthy movement pattern and how they underlie many of the Core Energetics exercises and interventions that are designed to restore integration to the body. A STUDY OF THE 5 WOUNDS AND THEIR RESPECTIVE DEFENSE STRUCTURES THE SCHIZOID / FRAGMENTED DEFENSE Etiology of the wound and the schizoid defense in the framework of the developmental task of attachment & bonding; main presenting issues and behavioral characteristics; observation and diagnosis of the physical structure of the schizoid defense; Mask, Lower Self, Higher Self and Life Task of individuals with this defense. The experiential work in this class supports embodiment, grounding and reparative interventions for this wounding. THE ORAL (UNDERCHARGED) DEFENSE
Etiology of the wound; development of the defense as an outcome of the experience of early abandonment; main presenting issues and behavioral characteristics as a result of the energy problem; observation and diagnosis of the physical structure of the oral defense; mask, lower self, Higher Self, and Life Task of individuals with this defense; real and false needs. Approaches and reparative techniques for working with this defense are presented and experienced. MASOCHISTIC (OVERCHARGED) DEFENSE Understanding enmeshment and autonomy issues; etiology of the wound with experiential work to elucidate the developmental factors responsible for masochism; main presenting issues and behavioral characteristics; observation and diagnosis of the physical structure of the masochistic defense; the mask, lower self, Higher Self and Life Task of individuals with this defense; approaches and reparative techniques for working with this defense. THE PSYCHOPATHIC (DISPLACED) DEFENSE Understanding the role of seduction and betrayal in early development; etiology of the wound; experiential work to elucidate the factors responsible for psychopathy; main presenting issues and behavioral characteristics; observation and diagnosis of the physical structure of the psychopathic defense; the different presentations of psychopathy; the mask, lower self, Higher Self and Life Task of individuals with this defense; Approaches and reparative techniques for working with this defense. THE RIGID (ARMORED) DEFENSE Understanding oedipal issues and the resulting split between the heart and the pelvis; etiology of the rigid wound with experiential work to elucidate the factors responsible for rigidity; main presenting issues and behavioral characteristics; observation and diagnosis of the physical structure of the rigid defense and the different rigid presentations; the mask, lower self, Higher Self and Life Task of individuals with this defense; Approaches and reparative techniques for working with this defense.
OUTLINE FOR THE SECOND YEAR,Core II FOUR STAGES OF CORE ENERGETICS EXPLORATION OF THE MASK EFO FUNCTIONS AND THEIR RELATIONSHIP TO THE CORE PRINCIPLES OF ENERGY ECONOMY RELEASING AND TRANSFORMING THE LOWER SELF THE HIGHER SELF THE HUMAN ENERGY FIELD AND CHAKRA SYSTEM SENSING AND WORKING WITH ENERGY AND SOFT TECHNIQUES INTRODUCTION TO BODY READING BODY CONSCIOUSNESS- ALIGNMENT/SKELETON/JOINTS/RELATION TO GRAVITY PRIDE, SELF-WILL AND FEAR APPLICATION OF TECHNIQUES TO THE CHARACTER STRUCTURES REASON/WILL/EMOTION: CHARACTER MODIFIERS RESISTANCE, ANGER AND THE UPPER BODY THE SPIRITUAL SIGNIFICANCE OF SEXUALITY THE UNIVERSAL LIFE PLAN AND LIFE TASK Ethics: EMPHASIS ON BOUNDARY ISSUES, DUAL ROLES, COMPETENCE SUMMARY Participants will work in dyads to learn the techniques used to address each defense mechanism. The theory and concept of grounding will be explored, including working with the feet, legs, eyes and the 3 rd eye, as well as grounding techniques related to each defense mechanism. Grounding is the foundation from which we can build a healthy ego and a healthy life.
Grounding will be taught from a psychological level, as well as the method and degree to which one can come into contact with others and to be present in reality. Breathing will be used as a tool to open physical and emotional blocks, for psychological and spiritual development, to establish the differences between the various defense mechanisms, as well as to measure the progress of the therapeutic process. Emphasis will be place on Staccato Breathing, Diaphragmatic Breathing and breath work while using the roller. Participants will learn techniques for working with resistance and with withheld anger in the upper body. This includes working the head, neck, shoulders, arms, chest, back and the diaphragm. The manifestation of anger in each of the defense mechanisms requires a separate approach for each. Certified Core Energetics Practitioner (4 years) These two (2) additional years will be dedicated to learning energetic techniques and deepening understanding of The way of the Hero, the way of the heart. By living more and more in alignment with our Higher Selves, the emergence of specific qualities from each participant will allow them to develop their leadership skills and strengthen their own capacity to heal themselves.
