Clinical Nutrition Approaches for Health and Productivity of Farm Animals An Advanced Short Course for Researchers and Teachers in Animal Nutrition and Allied Disciplines February 06-26, 2013 Centre of Advanced Faculty Training in Animal Nutrition Indian Veterinary Research Institute I z a t n a g a r - 2 4 3 1 2 2
Course Objective Clinical nutrition is an up-coming area in the field of animal nutrition with the shift in the focus from feeding for production to feeding for health and welfare. Backed by this global swing to have a relook at the nutrition and feeding as a vital tool to tackle and prevent a multitude of diseases, there has been a reorientation in the animal nutrition curriculum across the universities to include clinical nutrition as an important component of UG and PG courses. However, there is a general dearth of information on this important aspect, which necessitates that a well-construed advanced training module be developed for the benefit of teachers and researchers. The present course is designed to facilitate strengthening the human resource component for further integration of clinical nutrition into health and welfare of farm and pet animals. Overall, the course intends to address the issues in the rapidly advancing fields of veterinary clinical nutrition associated with livestock health; to enhance attendees skills in interpreting clinical nutrition studies; to facilitate interactions with nutritionists, researchers and teachers in animal nutrition, and to provide opportunities for sharing and exchange of views in light of recent global advancements in the field.
