P.E.T.A.L. IS.. Positively Empowering TeenGirls About Life - P.E.T.A.L. is a not-forprofit empowerment organization for girls and young women aged 10-19. P.E.T.A.L. inspires and empowers girls and young women with self-esteem, healthy behaviors, life-skills and tools that will assist them to bloom to their full potential and become leaders of tomorrow through social consciousness, leadership and critical thinking. Positively Empowering TeenGirls About Life - P.E.T.A.L fosters and supports the growth of TeenGirls through our enriching programs, empowering conferences and educational forums. Positively Empowering TeenGirls About Life - P.E.T.A.L. is not just an organization it is a MOVEMENT dedicated to the empowerment of TeenGirls!

P.E.T.A.L WILL.. Build Leaders With so many influences in the world today, it is important that TeenGirls know the importance of positive choices so that they can lead as opposed to follow. Our leadership & development workshops are designed to help Teen- Girls make positive choices in life. Instill Critical Thinking P.E.T.A.L. will teach TeenGirls to assess situations and help them gain stronger critical thinking skills. These skills will be honed by utilizing verbal/written expressions, personal reflections and observations, cumulative experience and deductive reasoning skills. Develop Social Ambassadors P.E.T.A.L. will provide TeenGirls the opportunity to develop socially conscious projects for their communities. P.E.T.A.L. TeenGirls will become Social Ambassadors and not only gain awareness but will also take active roles in spreading awareness to others.

HOW.. The Positively Empowering TeenGirls About Life - P.E.T.A.L. Leadership Circle for 2008-2009 will be comprised of 8-10 sophomore and junior high school girls residing in the NY/NJ/CT Tri-State* area. Positively Empowering TeenGirls About Life - P.E.T.A.L. Leadership Circle will meet once a month (Saturday or Sunday) from March June 2008 as well as from October 2008 through June 2009 and participate in development and leadership workshops. They will also work collectively to develop a national campaign on an agenda of their choice that affects girls and young women. The organization will work with the P.E.T.A.L. Leadership Circle to promote their message in the community, at major events and to educate their peers. The girls chosen for the 2008-2009 P.E.T.A.L. Leadership Circle will play an active role in developing and hosting P.E.T.A.L. events and conferences. * 2009-2010 expansion plans in place for Leadership Circle in other States.

Candidates for 2008-2009 must be high school *freshman/sophomores and juniors. 6. Applicants will be judged on the following criteria: academic achievement, evidence of leadership and/or community service.
