May 22, 2010 Matt and Kimmy dropped Charlie off on their way to Niagara Falls for the Victoria Day weekend. Charlie was not really sure that he wanted to come to see Nana and Grampa at the Science Hill but by Friday night, after a campfire, he was wishing that he could stay all summer. Percy was really happy that Charlie came for a visit.
Wednesday May 26, 2010 Mike and Maureen participated in the Dundee Investments Golf Tournament in Stratford. It was a very hot day, but we made it through all eighteen holes and came home with some nice door prizes and Maureen s team won the Trivia contest. Proceeds go to the Lions Foundation Dog Guides and the Optimist Clubs Childhood Cancer Fund. Thanks to Ray Black, his staff and volunteers who made this all possible.
Saturday June 5, 2010 Time for the Annual Bocce Ball Tournament at Science Hill.
Seasonal campers on the west end of the park gathered in the shade with their coolers to decide on teams and officiators. The guys challenged the gals and the Panini was thrown out to start the game. Marty, Dave and Pam show off their great form
Dan and Mike checking to see which ball is closer
Maureen needed a break so Rod was made an honourary gal and donned the bitch hat. Diane returned from her meeting and took over for Rod
After two losses the gals decided that the guys had to throw with their opposite arms but even with that the guys managed to squeak another one past the gals. Oh well better luck next year girls!
Theresa decided that she wanted to be the Bitch. After a few hours of Bocce it was time for food and drink on Rod and Diane s deck.
Mike cooked up ribs on the BBQ
After supper we had a lovely campfire until it decided to rain and everyone scampered home.
Saturday June 19, 2010 We drove into Stratford for the year end Lions President s party at Lion Chief Trudy s house. Lion John cooked up smoked chops to go with the wonderful salads and desserts that Trudy made. The Stratford Lions, their significant others and members of the ladies ball team all enjoyed a great afternoon.
Even the dogs had a good time!
Congratulations Lion Trudy on another great Lions year and good luck to the new President Lion Tracey.
Wednesday June 23, 2010 We went to the Monkton Lions Club. Lion Leonard Partridge was presented with a Melvin Jones Fellowship! Lion PDG Larry Wainright was the presenter. Lion Larry s wife, Lion Hilda was born in Monkton and knew Lion Leonard well.
Region Chair Elect Tim Deblock presented Lion Roy with a well deserved award as well!
Thursday July 1, 2010 HAPPY CANADA DAY! Maureen, Mike and Percy all participated in the Stratford Canada Day parade. Mike drove the truck that pulled the float with a giant Birthday cake on it. In the back of the truck Conn Smythe and his keyboard entertained the thousands of people who lined the streets. Percy walked with Maureen and the other Lions.
