UTILITY OF SHAMANA AUSHADHI AND UTTARBASTI IN INFERTILITY A LIFE STYLE DISORDER SCHOLAR Anupam Gautam M.S 1 st YEAR SUPERVISOR- Dr. S.B Donga Dept. of Stree Roga & Prasooti Tantra IPGT&RA JAMNAGAR

INTRODUCTION Inability to conceive after 1 year of regular unprotected sex. In some cases, this definition is expanded to include couples who may conceive but repeatedly lose the baby. About 10-20% of couples cannot have a baby when they want to. Primary: Never conceived. Secondary: Conceived at least once.

In this era infertility due to lifestyle changes is a main problem. The lifestyle which may produce infertility depends upon many factors, various lifestyle and environmental factors may affect human health and be associated with adverse reproductive outcomes.

The cause of infertility can involve one or both partners. For many couples having problems with fertility, the male partner is either the sole or a contributing cause. Problems with female fertility are common as well, but present less often than those in the male partner. In both men and women, multiple factors can account for difficulty with fertility.

CAUSES OF FEMALE INFERTILITY Fallopian tube damage or blockage Endometriosis Ovulation disorders, Elevated prolactin level Polycystic ovary syndrome Early menopause Benign uterine fibroids and pelvic adhesions In some infertile couples, no specific cause is found (unexplained infertility) Although infertility is unexplained, the pregnancy rate for these couples is among the highest.

CAUSES OF MALE INFERTILITY Impaired sperm count Impaired mobility or impaired ability to fertilize the egg. Abnormal sperm production or function Impaired delivery of sperm Conditions related to a man's general health and lifestyle and overexposure to certain environmental elements.

Relation of Infertility and lifestyle A Person's general health and lifestyle may affect fertility like Emotional stress. Malnutrition. Obesity. Severe injury/major surgery. Substance abuse like tobacco, smoking.

DIETARY FACTORS Vitamins deficiency Smoking Alcohol intake Iodine deficiency Other substances like cocaine, cannabinoids, steroids, antibiotics.

COMPONENTS OF HEALTH Universal Interconnection Body s Constitution (Prakriti) Life Force (Dosha) HEALTH

In Ayurveda, looks at the individual constitutional types, enhances the body systems that participates in the process of fertilization in totality, and hence serves as a better alternative for reaching fertilization.
