AWARD S AND H O N OR S Lee Ebony Boulware, MD, MPH, General Internal Medicine, was elected to the American Society for Clinical Investigation. Robert Brodsky, MD, Hematology, was awarded a grant from the Maryland Stem Cell Research Commission for BMT for sickle cell disease and lupus. His research will be funded $200k annually for three years. Hugh Calkins, MD, was elected president of the international Heart Rhythm Society. Danelle Cayea, MD, and Jessica Colburn, MD, received funding from the John A. Hartford Foundation to work with colleagues in Johns Hopkins Community Physicians to train physicians and nurses to implement the Medicare New Annual Wellness Visit using geriatrics care principles. Andrea Lynn Cox, MD, Infectious Diseases, was elected to the American Society for Clinical Investigation. Andrew Feinberg, MD, MPH, was selected by the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Amsterdam and the Spinoza Foundation Amsterdam to receive the 2013 Spinoza Chair in Medicine. Dr. Feinberg was in residence at the university for a week in May and delivered the Spinoza Lecture on May 16. Kelly Anne Gebo, MD, MPH, Infectious Diseases, was elected to the American Society for Clinical Investigation. Sherita Hill Golden, MD, Endocrinology, was elected to the American Society for Clinical Investigation. Jen Hayashi, MD, received funding from the John A. Hartford Foundation to codevelop an interprofessional education program with colleagues from the JHU Schools of Nursing and Medicine, the JHBMC Clinical Pastoral Education Program, and the Notre Dame of Maryland School of Pharmacy. The project focuses on teaching small teams of interprofessional learners from each of these disciplines to provide longitudinal homebased assessment and care to geriatric patients in the Elder House Call program. Matt McNabney, MD, Cynthia Boyd, MD, and Nancy Schoenborn, MD, received funding from the John A. Hartford Foundation to implement a curriculum that they jointly developed to teach resident physicians to discuss multimorbidity with patients and evaluate the impact of specific communications skills on patients health care decisions and experience. Stephen Sozio, MD, MHS, received the Excellence in Education s (IEE) 2013 Lisa J. Heiser Award for Junior Faculty Contribution in Education.
Jennifer Van Eyk, PhD, was named the 2013 FCTB Distinguished Achievement Award by the American Heart Association and the Council on Functional Genomics and Translational Biology for her major contributions to the affairs of a Scientific Council and substantial professional contributions to the field. Jonathan Zenilman, MD, will receive the 2013 American Sexually Transmitted Disease Association Distinguished Career award. This award for lifetime achievement is the organization s highest award.
