2016 Case-Based Review & Advanced Breast Imaging Course: DIGITAL BREAST TOMOSYNTHESIS NEW FOR 2016! Dedicated case review time on individual DBT workstations* September 17-18, 2016 San Diego, CA Register Now - Course Won t Be Held Again! In multiple published papers digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) has demonstrated the ability to improve the detection of breast cancer while, at the same time, reducing the number of false positive studies. It has also benefited women in that the recall rate from screening mammography has decreased approximately 30% when DBT is used. This new modality has been used in clinical practice since 2009 and it has consistently been chosen as the hottest new technology since then. This course will focus on the clinical applications of DBT. Lectures on basic principles of the modality, how to interpret studies with masses and calcifications, and workflow plus practical applications will be given by Fellows of the Society of Breast Imaging who have had extensive experience with DBT. Equally important, the attendee will be given the opportunity to participate in a case-based series of lectures where they will read these studies along with the faculty. New for 2016, attendees will have the opportunity to review cases on individual DBT workstations. Expert faculty will be available during the case review time to provide guidance. Two course experience options, both provide 8 hours of initial training in DBT: H 1.5 days lecture and dedicated case review time on individual DBT workstations* H 1 day lecture-only for reduced registration fee This course meets the eight hours of initial training in Digital Breast Tomosynthesis (DBT), including the unique features of the Hologic, GE, and Siemens DBT systems, required by the FDA. *Limited to 100 attendees Objectives Describe current uses of DBT in the screening and diagnostic settings Review the DBT patterns of benign and malignant disease; provide attendees with tools to better discriminate between breast cancer versus benign lesions Apply DBT effectively to reduce failure in cancer detection in patients before the next mammogram Recognize image workflow for comprehensive DBT examination review and interpretation Demonstrate an approach to biopsy of lesions visualized only by DBT Cultivate a greater understanding and appreciation of DBT in the screening environment
