CONFERENCE THEME: WOMEN TODAY ABOUT THE CONFERENCE In many ways, it s great to be a woman living in 2018 as more women are educated, making change and their achievements are being celebrated. Today, women are not only participating in various industries, but in some cases they are also holding more positions of power and are being well paid. However, the fight for gender equality still has a long way to go. In line with this year s campaign theme for the International Women s Day Press for Progress, Muslim women are making impressive headway. For the second year, The Muslim World Women s Summit continues to be a premier, exclusive platform to emphasise and highlight the role of women in the development of different sectors across the Muslim world. The participants share and exchange opinions on issues related to women s involvement in social and political, business, education and corporate sectors. The purpose is to amplify the message of empowerment and service to society and to highlight the many ways in which women contribute to the world. Using their inspirational life stories, the participating women will engage in meaningful dialogue during various sessions to reflect on previous experiences and plan for future progress. While this enhances the contribution of women leaders to the economic growth of their nations, it also serves to motivate the youth to appreciate the integration of efforts exerted by men and women for the betterment of humanity. They will be better prepared to face the challenges and create impactful solutions. In conjunction with Endorsed by GOVERNMENT OF MALAYSIA Organised by In cooperation with HONOURING SESSION 1: 21ST CENTURY WOMEN IN LEADERSHIP The increase in female leaders has gained the attention of many people over the past few years. Nowadays more young women graduate from universities, yet the number of female leaders seems remarkably low. There is no doubt that women face many challenges to get to leadership positions. In addition to the traditional role at home, stereotyping, and discrimination, women continue to face more obstacles due to gender- based assumptions. Incorporating The influence of stereotyping men and women The advantages of having a female leadership style The reasons why women face discrimination SESSION 2: SUPERWOMEN IN THE FUTURE MOTHER, WIFE, DAUGHTER AND CAREER Marriage is like gymnastic competition, it requires all the complex balancing skills to master. One of the most challenging aspects could be the fine line between living your passion, supporting your partner s dreams and, somehow, still building a life together. For most families, even when the members share similar personal and professional goals, this precarious balance demands endless adjustments and the occasional falls. What does it take to become a superwoman? Rights and responsibilities of future women How to create more time in the day for your work and family How to succeed in love and in life without sacrificing one for the other

SESSION 3: WOMEN IN SPORTS Women s participation in sports has a long history. It is a history marked by relegation and discrimination but it is also filled with great accomplishments by female athletes, which have been important to advocate gender equality and the empowerment of women. Today, sports have the power to transcend boundaries of gender, race, religion and nationality. It promotes health and wellness, leadership and team work skills, perseverance, and improves self-esteem. It also provides a viable avenue for enhanced integration of women in all walks of life in addition to enjoying good physical and mental health. What challenges do Muslim female athletes face? How do you maintain your identity while participating in international events? How does the community view women athletes in the Muslim world? Inspirational stories of globally renowned Muslim women athletes SESSION 4: : LIVE LOCAL, GO GLOBAL Startups offer plentiful benefits for the youth to prove their capabilities and show their skills in local and international markets. However, the task of starting and sustaining a new business is tremendously tough in view of the stiff competition and lack of funds. The task is even more difficult for female entrepreneurs. There are several stories of women who managed to establish innovative businesses which are known globally, but the number of women-owned companies is still limited, especially in the Muslim world. Over the years, social media has platforms proven to be a powerful tool that connects people, businesses and nations. Women are very active on social media and they communicate through them. Nowadays more and more women are expressing themselves and finding confidence and careers online. Inspiring others as social media allows any individual to present content and opinions to a global audience with just one click. What are the biggest challenges for someone who can influence others on social media? How women can reap the benefits of social media as a means to success? SESSION 6: THE LIFE OF A HUMANITARIAN ACTIVIST Women as humanitarian activists play critical roles in human rights movements worldwide by bringing up the current issues that the world faces today. Many organisations around the world dedicate their efforts to protect human rights and end human rights abuses. The journey might be a challenge for them but it is not going to stop or discourage their ongoing spirits. Their mission can open the eyes of millions around the world and has brought hope and encouragement to many lives, especially to the young hearts.
