President-Elect Candidates The successful candidate will serve one year as President-Elect, the next year as President and the following year as Immediate Past President. Clarica J. Douglas CNT Certified Nephrology Technician Fresenius Medical Care I have used my position as a NANT Board Member and then Regional Vice President to empower technicians to raise their quality of care by improving infection control practices and educating patients to achieve a better quality of life. President- Elect is more than just a title to me. It grants the power to be a voice for patients, nephrology technicians and technologists, and our employers within the NANT community and beyond. Since joining the board, I have worked tirelessly formulating strategies to market NANT and educate the healthcare community about our organization. I have invested myself in NANT, promoting our cause on social media, being a physical presence at the NANT Symposium, Industry conferences, and local chapter meetings. I have been a speaker for and about NANT on numerous occasions. Basically, I believe in the organization and for which it stands. I have flourished through the great opportunities this organization has offered me and I want it to continue to grow and be a good example so that other technicians can follow in my footsteps as I have followed and learned from other board members. Leadership Positions NANT Baltimore Chapter Co-founder& Director 2014-2017 NANT Board Member 2017-Present NANT Northeast Regional Vice President 2013 Torchbearer Award 2014 Dennis Kennedy Award The issues I would like to address while in office are the costs and ability to find and maintain interesting topics and speakers for NANT chapter meetings. I want to address this by sharing my knowledge and information and help our chapters grow. This organization is a great educational tool. I want to identify topics and in-services that will help our members become better technicians. I also want to use the position of President-elect to celebrate! I want to celebrate our member s successes. I want to celebrate those that took a risk. I want to take NANT back to its roots, an organization by technicians and for technicians. I bring my smile and can-do attitude to the organization. I'm optimistic, I challenge others to be the best they can be. I encourage creation and promote teamwork. Through encouragement and the sharing of ideas, I grow the attributes and abilities of everyone within my circle of influence. My number one goal is to educate, empower and excite other nephrology technicians to improve the quality care of patients with ESRD. I have held several interesting conferences in the Baltimore- Washington area that not only provide the continuing education necessary to keep technicians employed as mandated by the state of Maryland but also create an environment where technicians are excited about learning and return to their clinics energized and ready to share their knowledge with their fellow technicians.

I hope to bring more positive change in our community. I want to promote NANT across the nation in every city, state, clinic, etc. by encouraging at least one or two NANT chapters in every state. I strongly believe in NANT as the only association for nephrology technicians. I plan to start with the city I now reside - Orlando Florida by starting our first NANT Chapter ever in Central Florida. I plan to help grow more chapters in throughout Florida. I also want to heavily promote NANT through my employer of choice, DaVita Dialysis, by using my networking capabilities as I am in the process of becoming an Assistant Facility Administrator through DaVita. The single most important issue facing NANT in the coming year is to increase and maintain membership. In addition, we must also help educate each other as professionals within our practice as well as within our community. My personal strength is a convincing personality. I am able to lead, coach, and educate others to carry out important tasks that enhance and maintain patient care and safety. I hope to promote NANT to such a degree that it will be well known in every city and state in the nation. Through the use of social media, radio broadcasts, flyers, posters, banners, business cards, I want NANT to be a common acronym in Colleges, High Schools, Hospitals and Clinics. The key is to advertise.
Page 4 Ballot for 2018 Officers and Directors Regional Vice President Candidates The successful candidates will serve for two years on the Board of Directors. The VP is responsible for providing contact and support to all existing chapters in his/her region and for assisting new chapters. Through the chapters, the Vice- President promotes the increase in NANT membership. Northwest Region Jeremy Leach Area Technical Operations Manager (ATOM), Fresenius Kidney Care Throughout our field, I continue to see the effects lack of training, experience, and quality hiring. Addressing this requires a multi-faceted solution including more entry level education programs in colleges and companies, educating hiring managers to recognize highly motivated individuals with excellent soft skills, and increasing the pay scale to attract these individuals to the field. Leadership Positions: 2014 - Present NANT Northwest Regional Vice President I believe that patience and understanding are my strongest traits. By relating to and understanding nephology technicians, I recognize the need for a higher level of learning throughout the technician world. Through patience, I am able to work through the difficult times ultimately knowing that change for the better will come and will come through collaboration and teamwork throughout our field. My overall goal is to improve the accessibility to information to forward the development of all nephrology technicians. By continuing as the NW VP, I will continue to inform and help develop my fellow technicians. Raquel A. Waddell, CCHT Liberty Dialysis LLC The single most important issue or concern facing NANT members in the coming year are finding and applying for grants and more access to free continuing education. I m very easy to talk to and always willing to help others. If elected, I will use my position to encourage more of my colleagues to get involved with NANT and the ESRD community.
Ballot for 2018 Officers and Directors Southwest Region Jennifer Lunt, CCHT DaVita Las Vegas/UHS Acutes Leadership Positions: NANT Las Vegas Chapter Vice President Torchbearer award NANT Symposium Scholarship recipient Page 5 I love my job. Not many people can say that, but I can! As a former chronic technician and current acute technician, I have worked in different aspects of the dialysis business and I want to keep this a business of professional specialists. I have seen the dumbing down of our profession instead of the raising up of good technicians to the next level. Those of us who are outstanding in our field must help those coming behind us to excel; they are our legacy! I like to work as a team, brainstorm, and have input. I think we all have a specific background and voice, and together, we can sing! I want to market experienced technicians to hospital groups and medical organizations as a better, cost-effective alternative in the acute setting to fresh-out-of-school RNs. I feel we smart, seasoned technician specialists have a better grasp on the dialysis process than nurses do, especially with respect to cannulation, managing treatment side effects, machine troubleshooting, etc. I also want to showcase this aspect of dialysis to encourage professional, experienced clinic technicians to take the next step towards excellence in the acute setting. Chris Mora, Territory Technical Manager Satellite Dialysis Leadership Positions: 2017 - Present NANT Southwest Regional Vice President BONENT Regional Representative Torchbearer award Satellite Healthcare Honors Award 2012 The most important issue I see NANT facing in the upcoming year is increased knowledge about the organization as well as increasing membership. Through education, engagement and leadership, I believe that we can greatly increase the number of members as well as retain existing members. As someone who started as technician and has moved up to other roles within my company, I know first-hand the benefits of being a NANT member. I am a very focused and organized. If elected as the Southwest Regional Vice President, I will use these traits to ensure that the dialysis community becomes educated on all that NANT has to offer.
