Why We Ride In 2010, Jason Donaldson s mother was hit by a van while in a crosswalk. She sustained a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). The only visible sign of the incident was a scratch on her elbow. She passed away from the TBI four days after the accident. Jason struggled to understand what happened to his mother. He couldn t get the answers from doctors, nurses, or social workers. The only source of answers was the Brain Injury Alliance of Washington (BIAWA). BIAWA helped Jason understand what had happened. BIAWA connected him to a community that understood what he was going through. After Jason s mother passed away, cycling was his therapy. He has used cycling to bring awareness to Brain Injury and the critical services that BIAWA provides. In 2013 and 2014 he raised $2,500 through a single day mountain bike race. In 2015, he completed an 8 day solo bike ride across the state of Washington, raising over $3,500. Since teaming up in 2016, BIAWA and Jason have grown the bike ride to the event it is today. Join BIAWA along with Jason for BrainRide to raise funds for Brain Injury Survivors, caregivers and family members
