On the mat, this means an equal focus on strength and power, as relaxation and quietude. Asanas teach us how to relax and to breathe into the challenging places/postures, and experience yoga, or connectedness, both on the mat and in our daily lives off the mat.
Power Vinyasa: (Not recommended for beginners.) Power vinyasa yoga is a system designed to detoxify the body and mind through an internal heat that builds during the practice. Vinyasa (breath movement system) is accomplished by linking each movement with either an inhale or exhale and stopping in poses only to continue the rhythmic breath. Restorative Yoga: You will be guided through 5-6 postures each held for 6-8 minutes each. These postures relax the nervous system and support health and healing by using props, mindfulness techniques and the breath to ease the body into comfort and relaxation. It is a practice of deliberate stillness and requires minimal muscular effort. This practice reduces the influence of our stress responses (sympathetic) and nourishes our quieting systems (healing and digestion = parasympathetic). Come join us to reduce your stress, relieve tension and experience a class meant for being rather than doing. Unity Flow Yoga (80-85min): A vigorous and thorough practice where careful sequencing of movements prepares the body to work with ease and freedom. Linking breath with movement will create 60min of Vinyasa Flow. The remaining 20-30min will be Yin inspired, with postures focused on stretching and relaxation to enable restoration and renewal within the body. Viniyoga : Just as every body is different, so is every person s yoga practice. There are four things that differentiate Viniyoga from most other forms of yoga: 1. Repetition & Stay: The use of repetition into and out of postures in addition to holding postures. 2. Function over Form: The emphasis on how you feel and move in a posture is more important than how it looks. 3. Breath & Adaptation: The emphasis on breath as the medium for movement, and adapting the pattern of breathing to produce different effects. 4. The Art of Sequencing: The variety and combination of postures which allow teachers to create sequences of different orientation, length, and intensity to suit the intention and context of each practice. Vinyasa Yoga: This class takes yoga poses and links them together in a traditional flow style. It is a mix of Iyengar and Vinyasa flow. The purpose of vinyasa is to create heat in the body, which leads to purification of the body through increased circulation and sweating. It also improves flexibility and muscle endurance. Yoga Flow: With a mixture of Vinyasa and Hatha elements, we create strength, flexibility, balance and endurance while simultaneously drawing our attention inward. Effectively working all parts of the body.
