1 LOCATOR F-Tx SEATING AND REMOVAL TOOL PROCEDURES ADDENDUM
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE DESCRIPTION Wire and Lever Wrench Tip Wrench Seating and Removal Tool Seating Tip Removal Tip with Threaded Adapter The LOCATOR F-Tx Seating and Removal Tool includes the Tool, Seating Tip, Removal Tip with Threaded Adapter, Wire and Lever Wrench, and a Tip Wrench. The Tool is used for seating and removing prostheses retained by the LOCATOR F-Tx Fixed Attachment System. The Tool works by generating the required force to engage and disengage the Retention Balls from the LOCATOR F-Tx Abutments. PRECAUTION: It must be used with a protective matrix made of rigid VPS material with a minimum of 85 Shore A/33 Shore D hardness during seating. SEATING THE PROSTHESIS 1 In case the Retention Ball fractures in the Abutment, the remnants of the Retention Ball may be removed from the Abutment using a periodontal probe. Air and suction will facilitate the removal of any remnants. TOOL ASSEMBLY: 1 Screw and tighten the Seating Tip clockwise onto the Tool. 2 2 Verify that the thumbwheel lines up with the black indicator mark before each use. If adjustment is required, hold the Seating Tip with the Tip Wrench and turn the thumbwheel so that the bottom lines up with the black indicator mark that indicates the required level of force. 2
SEATING THE PROSTHESIS (CONTINUED) 3 90S SEATING PROCEDURE: 3 Prepare the prosthesis for seating with the occlusal protective matrix by dispensing rigid VPS material with a minimum of 85 Shore A/33 Shore D hardness over the entire arch and allow to set. 4A 4A Place the prosthesis with the appropriate Retention Balls over the LOCATOR F-Tx Abutments. 4B 4B Failure to ensure that the Retention Balls are aligned with the LOCATOR F-Tx Abutment cavities can result in Retention Ball damage. 5 5 Start at the two most posterior LOCATOR F-Tx Abutments and move anteriorly. Place the Seating Tip in position on the matrix and over the Abutment and load the Seating Tip firmly against it. While holding the Tool perpendicular to the occlusal plane, activate the LOCATOR F-Tx Tool handle at least twice per Abutment location. 3
SEATING THE PROSTHESIS (CONTINUED) 6 1 2 6 The Retention Balls should engage the Abutments. Repeat this procedure until the prosthesis is solidly anchored and attached to the LOCATOR F-Tx Abutments. Remove the matrix from the prosthesis. Pull on the prosthesis to check firmness, and confirm final seating using an x-ray, an occlusal rim and by conducting a bite stick test. 3 4 5 6 4
REMOVAL OF THE PROSTHESIS 7 TOOL ASSEMBLY: 7 Attach the Removal Tip to the Threaded Adapter by guiding the pin into the channel and locking it into position. Screw and tighten the Removal Tip clockwise onto the Tool. 8 8 Verify that the thumbwheel lines up with the black indicator mark before each use. If adjustment is required, hold the Removal Tip with the Tip Wrench and turn the thumbwheel so that the bottom lines up with the black indicator mark that indicates the required level of force. 9A REMOVAL PROCEDURE: 9A-B Lasso the wire loop of the Tool past the most posterior Abutment engaging the intaglio surface of the prosthesis. Secure the wire loop in position and tug on the Tool to ensure that it has a firm grip on the prosthesis. Prior to activation, hold the Tool as perpendicular to the occlusal plane as possible. 9B 5
REMOVAL OF THE PROSTHESIS (CONTINUED) 10A 10A-B Pull firmly on the Tool so that the wire loop is taut and activate the Tool handle until the Retention Balls disengage from the Abutments. Repeat the procedure by moving anteriorly until all Retention Balls are disengaged. 10B NOTE: Hold the prosthesis when disengaging the final Abutments, as the prosthesis can spring off the Abutments. REPLACING THE WIRE LOOP 11 11 Use the provided Wire and Lever Wrench and engage the lever of the Removal Tip while pulling upward to release the Wire Loop from the Removal Tip. 6
REPLACING THE WIRE LOOP (CONTINUED) 12 12 Unscrew the small screw and remove the damaged wire. Replace with the new Wire Loop, reinsert and tighten the screw. 13 13 Pass the excess wire in the hole of the base and insert it deep enough to have the end exit from the hole. Tighten the locking lever with the provided Wire and Lever Wrench. CLEANING/STERILIZATION GUIDELINES CLEANING: Mix enzymatic cleaning solution according to the manufacturer s instructions. Soak in enzymatic cleaning solution by completely submerging for 20 minutes. Scrub Tool and tips using a soft bristled, nylon brush until all visible residue has been removed. Remove from the enzymatic cleaning solution and rinse with tap water for a minimum of 3 minutes. Make sure to thoroughly flush difficult to reach areas such as internal holes/ crevices. Remove excess moisture from the Tool with a clean, absorbent, non-shedding wipe. STERILIZATION: Sterilize all parts according to the following parameters: Gravity Autoclave Pre-Vacuum Autoclave Temperature 132 C 132 C Exposure Time 30 minutes 8 minutes Dry Time 30 minutes 20 minutes 7
