Ancient Order of Hibernians 151 Watertown Street PO Box 11 02471 OCTOBER 2014 NEWSLETTER! RETURN SERVICE REQUESTED

Ancient Order of Hibernians Division 14 PO Box 11 02471 Joe McCusker OCTOBER 2014 NEWSLETTER AOH President s Message Please join me in welcoming the Chuck Lenaghan Class that was recently inducted on the first of October. As I addressed the new class and explained what our Division is about and how rewarding it is to get involved in Division business I looked out to the audience and noticed that the new class was as big as the congregation. We inducted nine (9) new members as part of the Chuck Lenaghan Class. Being a member of Division 14 is like being a player of a team. Most, if not all, of us played team sports and understands what belonging to a team entails. Being a member of a team is rewarding because you belong to something that you worked hard to achieve. Being a member of a team and actually playing is even more gratifying. The same parallel can be drawn by becoming an active member of the Division. It s great to be a member of the Division but it s even more rewarding when you become involved. Please consider playing a more active role in Division business. Have some fun and support your Division by playing some Halloween Mini-Golf on October 24 th (see enclosed), please consider bringing your son/daughter and/or grandson/granddaughter and make sure they re in costume for some trick or treat. I need to address a few housekeeping items as we close in on the end of the year. We have two more family suppers scheduled before the end of the year and are hopeful they will be well attended. That said, attendance has been lackluster at best and unfortunately we may have to conclude family suppers due to lack of interest and fiscal responsibility. Pay special attention to the WSB Customer Choice Awards flyer at the back of this newsletter and be sure to vote for your Division 14 (we lost out last year; please don t let it happen again). Yours in Friendship, Unity and Christian Charity, Joseph P. McCusker Jr. 2

LAOH President s Message Dear Hibernians, I hear the Night at the Races was a success. Due to vacation I was out of town. Our Pro Life Meeting is Tuesday, Oct. 14th, due to the holiday. If you cannot attend a donation to Massachusetts Pro Life would be acceptable. Ann Stevens is thinking of doing a Yard Sale in the Spring. She will need helpers. If this is something you wish to sponsor as an organization, please contact Ann with your name and phone number. Ann's number is 617-923-0189. How would you like to have information on assisted living? How about a Fashion Show? Trying to come up with speakers that would be informative for the general membership. Remember it is important to have helping hands in order to raise money for the Club. Come to the meetings with ideas and suggestions. Hope to see you there. Yours in Friendship, Unity and Christian Charity, Mary B. Ryan, President 3

This past year we did not receive a Customer Choice Award from Watertown Savings Bank. We fell short because the competition for these monetary awards has become tougher and quite frankly we just didn t advertise it enough to the membership. Please find below all the information you will need to vote for the AOH Division 14 Watertown to receive an award for calendar year 2014. If you are receiving this newsletter via email please follow the link below. If you are a WSB Bank Customer and cannot vote on-line please make sure to place your vote next time you go to the Bank. Just ask someone at the Bank and I m sure they will help you with your vote. Each year Watertown Savings Bank sets aside $75,000 to distribute to non-profits through the Customer Choice Awards. The program provides customers with the opportunity to influence how the bank distributes funds in the community. Deadline to vote in 2014 is December 31.
