Based on the SAC concept developed with our global academic partner, the ITI, the courses are designed for various customer groups (e.g. surgeons, prosthodontists, general practitioners, nurses, technicians) and for all levels of competence. The curriculum is built on the ITI consensus guidelines, which themselves are based on clinical science, with the goal of teaching the skills needed to provide the best possible treatment for each situation. The syllabus of continuing education helps to ensure the safety of patients and the success of customers. The teachings on most of our courses is provided by ITI specialists and internationally reowned speakers and is in collaboration with well-known universities. Our Training and Education team grew correspondingly to enhance your education experience. As in previous years, the number of customers trained in our courses continued to expand. The biggest increases were in the Asia/Pacific Region (+27%). Milestones, philosophy, material, surface, designs/ connections, implant family, Implant selection, instruments and abutments (overview) Indications, contraindications and bone classification Patient selection. Treatment planning Prosthetic planning (Top-Down): Planning model, diagnostic wax/setup Abutments - What, when and where Surgical planning: X-ray evaluation, X-ray stent, Surgical procedure (step by step instruction) Pre/Post medication. Post surgical recall procedure PRACTICAL EXERCISE Surgical planning Implant placement in artificial mandible with Gi Mask Hands-on exercise Practical considerations in implant dentistry Fabrication of a bone level implant provisional on an anterior tooth - screwed-retained Impression techniques for tissue level and bone level implants (open tray and closed tray) GOAL This course aims to provide participants with an overview of basic implantology as well as an introduction to the Straumann Dental Implant System. On completing the course, the participant should be able to select a patient for implant placement and carry out the implant placement on the patient, armed with the necessary scientific and theoretical knowledge of how to plan and handle simple surgical interventions. The participant should also be able to handle cases involving no anatomical/surgical risks or risks or complications, in locations with sufficient bone quantity in both the vertical and horizontal dimensions. Single or multiple units in non-esthetic sites in the maxilla / mandible for prosthetic reconstruction with cemented crowns and bridges; and removable on 2-4 implants. Surgery S Level SPEAKER 1 Dr Marlene Teo ( Singapore) Adjunct lecturer, NUS Dr Marlene Teo graduated from the National University of Singapore in 2000, where she was the only 6 th dental graduate in its 63-year history to be awarded BDS Honours. Throughout her course of study, Dr Teo was awarded a total of 11 academic and clinical medals, including the Lee Kuan Yew gold medal, the Tratman Silver Medal and the Dr FAC Oehlers Gold Medal. Dr Teo subsequently obtained her Masters in Periodontology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where her Masters thesis was selected as one of four finalists in the prestigious Orban competition, during the American Academy of Periodontology meeting in San Diego 2006. For the same thesis, Dr Teo was also awarded the North Carolina-AADR Turner Research award in 2006. Dr Teo is a diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and maintains a clinical practice limited to Periodontics and Dental Implants at TP Dental Surgeons Pte Ltd. She is an ITI Fellow and currently holds a joint appointment as Adjunct lecturer at the National University of Singapore and Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill SPEAKER 2 Dr Willy Chang (Singapore) Adjunct Senior Lecturer, NUS Dr. Willy Chang graduated from the University of Queensland Dental School, Australia in 1985. He began his career as a general dentist in Australia. In 1991, he relocated back to Hong Kong where he started his own private practice. He completed a two-year Postgraduate Diploma Program in Conservative Dentistry at the University of Hong Kong Prince Philip Dental Hospital in 1996. With a passion for prosthodontics, he gave up his practice to pursue specialist training in the United States in 2000. After three years of prosthodontic residency at the University of Maryland Dental School, he obtained a Master of Science degree and a Certificate in Prosthodontics in 2003. He received further training at the Center for Implantology, Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine, completing an Implantology Fellowship in 2004. On completion of his training in the US, he returned to Asia and joined the National University of Singapore Faculty of Dentistry as Assistant Professor, teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate students between 2004 and 2007. During this period, he also practised as a specialist prosthodontist at the National University Hospital. Dr. Chang is now in private practice at TP Dental Surgeons Pte. Ltd. He is also an Adjunct Senior Lecturer in the Department of Restorative Dentistry National University of Singapore. His scope of practice includes multi-disciplinary management of complex dental conditions, complex removable complete and partial dentures, custom smile makeovers, full-mouth reconstructions and dental implants for missing teeth (single, multiple and full-arch replacement). He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics, a Fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists and a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore.
