FOURTH ANNUAL OKLAHOMA Prostate & Urologic Cancers Symposium THE PROSTATE & UROLOGIC CANCERS SYMPOSIUM is held through the University of Oklahoma and the Stephenson Cancer Center to provide new insights in the treatment of prostate and urologic cancers. This single-day program will consist of lectures and case discussions highlighting a multidisciplinary approach to urologic cancer care and integration of new technology in the evaluation and treatment of prostate cancer and urologic cancers patients. Evidence-based medicine highlighting relevant clinical trial data will be provided as well as focusing on current controversies in prostate cancer management. Also, developments in surgical management, including robotic-assisted radical prostectomy, will be highlighted. INTENDED/TARGET AUDIENCES APRN/PA, Family Medicine, General Medicine, Nurse, Nurse Practitioners, Oncology, Physician Assistants, Primary Care Physicians, Radiation Oncology, Radiologist, Registered Nurse, Urology LEARNING OBJECTIVES Upon completion of this activity, particiapnts will improve their competence and performance by being able to: 1. Distinguish advanced surgical techniques using robotics in the management of patients with prostate cancer. 2. Identify therapeutics for advanced and metastatic prostate cancer. COOKSON, MD, MMHC Professor and Chairman Department of Urology OU College of Medicine Michael S. Cookson, MD, MMHC is the Donald D. Albers Professor and Chairman of the Department of Urology at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. He is the director of the Multidisciplinary Prostate and Urologic Oncology Program at the Stephenson Cancer Center. He has over 20 years of experience in the management of patients with prostate cancer. KELLY STRATTON, MD Assistant Professor Urologic Oncology Department of Urology OU College of Medicine Kelly Stratton, MD, is an assistant professor of urologic oncology in the OU Department of Urology. Prior to joining the OU team, he completed his fellowship training in urologic oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering in New York. Dr. Stratton brings experience with state-of-the art imaging for the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer. INVITED SPEAKER CHRISTOPHER J. KANE, MD, FACS Professor and Chair, Department of Urology; University of California - San Diego School of Medicine Senior Deputy Director & Physician in Chief of the UCSD Moores Comprehensive Cancer Center San Diego, CA Christopher J. Kane is a graduate of Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda. He completed his residency at the Naval Medical Center in Oakland. Currently, Dr. Kane is a professor and chair of the Department of Urology at the University of California at San Diego. He is also the senior deputy director and physician in chief of the UCSD Moores Comprehensive Cancer Center. Dr. Kane performs over 200 robotic cancer surgeries per year and is highly experienced in nervesparing robotic prostatectomies, robotic radical cystectomy for bladder cancer, and robotic partial nephrectomy for kidney cancer. He is internationally recognized for patient care and research in prostate cancer, renal cell carcinoma, robotic and minimally invasive surgical treatment of urologic diseases and disorders, and risk stratification and outcomes after treatment.
