1. Panel Design The Power Xpert FMX busbar earthing panel consists of a 2-position change-over switch in series with a circuitbreaker that is connected to earth. By using the circuit-breaker for switching to earth, the panel is fully rated for the required making currents. Switching the panel is done via electrical operation. The operation panel is located in the low voltage compartment of the panel. Operation is done by means of electrical push buttons. The busbar earthing panel is electrically interlocked with the incoming and outgoing panels of the switchboard. In this case the panel can only be operated if the other panels are in test position (see Figure 1-1). Consequently the other panels can t be electrically operated if the busbar earthing panel is set back into its starting position (Figure 1-2).The mid and cable door are locked by means of a screw (tool-based accessible). As the panel design contains the same basic components as the incoming and outgoing panels the busbar earthing panel can be easily converted to an outgoing panel. Diagram showing change-over switch in busbar position and circuit breaker in OFF position The change-over switch has two possible positions: * disconnected position * busbar position The circuit-breaker has two different positions: * ON * OFF 6101.599 G01 03 2
1. Operation 1.1 Busbar earthing ON / OFF switching WARNING Before earthing the busbars, make sure all incoming and feeder FMX panels are put into Test position (See Figure 1-1). And make sure there is no Voltage on the busbars. Figure 1-1 Starting position for all incoming FMX and feeder FMX Panels (Test position) Starting position for Earthing Panel Starting position of the busbar earthing panel (see Figure 1-2): Circuit-Breaker: OFF. 2-position change-over switch: Disconnected position. For switching the busbars ON/OFF in order to earth the busbar, the following operation sequence is necessary: Busbar earthing panel to ON-position (ELECTRICAL OPERATION): Note: see starting position on page 3 Push button (green color) for moving the 2-position change-over switch from disconnected to the busbar position (see Figure 1-3). The position indicator shows the final position after some time. Figure 1-3 Picture shows change-over switch in disconnected position Push button (green color) for Circuit-breaker ON (see Figure 1-4). Figure 1-4 Circuit-breaker shows in OFF position The position indicator shows directly the end position The busbars are now connected to earth (see Figure 1-5) Figure 1-5 Circuit-breaker in ON and change-over switch in busbar position 6101.599 G01 03 4
Busbar earthing panel to ON-position (MANUAL OPERATION): Note: see starting position on page 3 Push the red handle down and insert the operating handle in the opening (see Figure 1-6). Next turn the handle counterclockwise for moving the 2-position change-over switch from disconnected to busbar position till it stops (see Figure 1-7). The position indicator shows the final position after some time. Figure 1-6 Picture shows the handle insertion Figure 1-7 Picture shows the manual operation of the change-over switch into the busbar position Connect the mobile power unit to the auxiliary circuit of the busbar earthing panel (see Figure 1-8). Figure 1-8 Picture shows the connected mobile power unit Push button (green color) for Circuit-breaker ON (see Figure 1-9). Busbar Earthing panel to OFF position (ELECTRICAL OPERATION): Push button (red) for circuit-breaker to OFF-position. Push button (red color) for moving the 2-position change-over switch to the disconnected position. The position indicator shows the final position after some time (see Figure 1-11) Figure 1-11 End position: 2 position change-over in disconnected and circuit breaker OFF Busbar Earthing panel to OFF position (MANUAL OPERATION): Push the red handle down and insert the operating handle in the opening (see Figure 1-12). Next turn the handle clockwise for moving the 2-position change-over switch from busbar to disconnected position till it stops (see Figure 1-13).
