Vol. XX Issue 12 JOSEPH P. KENNEDY, JR. AMERICAN LEGION POST 11-11 9959 Wadsworth Blvd. Broomfield, CO 80021 Telephone: (303) 466-1278 COMMANDER S CORNER Walt Lee Commander Well the Holidays are upon us, now starts the gift buying, what to buy, who to buy it for. All Post members and friends don't worry about my gift this year. For this year and the years to come all I want for Christmas is for you all to have a safe and happy Holiday. I'll be brief in this article, upcoming Membership Meeting December 11 th, Innvocare will put on a presentation explaining their Healthcare program. I've seen the presentation before and I think it can help some of our members with their Healthcare needs. Congratulations to Norm Fulton and Bob Riggs on their nomination and trip on the last Honor Flight from Colorado nice pictures they are sharing. Drop by the Post for some Holiday libation and good times. It's this time of year especially, that we keep our Servicemen/women in our thoughts and prayers. DECEMBER 2018 NEWSLETTER MERRY CHRISTMAS I have always wanted to learn more about woman veteran s and how we can help them. For the past couple of years our Auxiliary Unit has sent active woman veterans very nice personalized care packages. But what I have found that female veterans are hard to find and get addresses for. I would like to help make woman s veteran s military experiences known through storytelling. If you know any woman veteran and would like to share their story, please contact me. Special thanks to Ava Barden one of our Woman Veterans that is always willing to help our unit in any way that she can. She brings great ideas and resources. She has raised lots of money through her sales abilities for our charities. She has been our sergeant of arms for the past several years and leads by example. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday. Thank you to those who have renewed for 2019. The annual dues are $30/year and help us continue to serve Veteran s and their families and our community. Please tell your non-member friends about us, what we do and encourage them to join if they are eligible. Keep a copy of the application in your purse to have ready. The holiday season is a perfect time to reflect on our blessings and seek out ways to make life better for those around us. Stacey Honeyman, Auxiliary President Walt Lee, Commander SAL SQUADRON AUXILIARY There are 2.2 million-woman veterans in the United States- 10% of the overall population. With currently 300,000 female combat veterans in the United States. SAL wants to wish all members of post 11-11 and family to have a wonderful Xmas and Happy Holidays to all. We thank you all for your support and helping us raise money for our charity. http://www.legionpost11-11.org

PAGE 2 We are currently taking renewal for membership. There is a mail box by office door at front entrance. Please feel free to drop your renewal envelope in mail box. Please write name and address on envelope so we can be sure you get your new cards. SAL next meeting is Thursday Dec 13th at 6:00 pm all SAL members are welcome to attend. Thank you all for your support. Huey Geller, SAL Commander SAL CHAPLAIN As the old year comes to an end, let us ponder on what it has held for us. Let us be thankful for the rich experiences you gave us - for every sympathetic smile, for every tear - for moments which brought laughter's melody - for natures' loveliness and for friendships beauty. Let us also ask forgiveness for thoughts and deeds unwise. As we stand on the threshold of a New Year - let us be thankful for the opportunity to stand and peer intently and eagerly beyond the door of many challenges that lie ahead. May we have the courage, truth and faith to meet them without flinching and thought of ourselves. Amen. Michael Mcinerney, SAL Chaplain JANET S CORNER Are you ready for the holidays?
