NARAYANA MEDICAL COLLEGE, NELLORE ACTIVITIES OF WORLD AIDS DAY ON 01 DECEMBER 2018 The following is a brief report of the activities organized on the World AIDS Day on 01 Dec, 2018. 1. Health Education Campaign at the Govt High School, Saraswathi Nagar, 2. Rally in the urban health field practice area (UHC), and 3. A Scientific Update in the medical college. Health Education Campaign: Health Education was given at the Govt High School. Students of 9 th and 10 th class are given health education about HIV/AIDS. Dr. Jyothi, Dr. Pravallika and Dr. Vyshnavi health educated the girls and Dr. Kumar, Dr. Suresh Reddy and Dr. Sasikumar health educated the boys. Boys and girls were separated and the classes were taken at two separate halls. Dr. S. Pravalika, Asst. Professor, interacting with Govt. school students about HIV/AIDS
Dr. Suresh, Post Graduate, interacting with Govt. school students Rally: A rally with about 250 school children, CRRIs, dental and medical postgraduates, faculty and staff of the departments of Community Medicine, Public Health Dentristry and the staff of UHC was conducted. The group went around Saraswathi Nagar, raising slogans to motivate the public to help prevent and control HIV/AIDS.
Scientific Update on HIV/AIDS: With the cooperation of the departments of General Medicine and Dermatovenereology, an update on the problem of HIV/AIDS was organized at the lecture gallery 3 (Harper) between 2 PM and 4 PM. About 300 persons attended the programme including the medical students, postgradauates and faculty of different departments. Dr. V. Chandrasekhar, Professor & Head of Community Medicine set the academic ball rolling by with his opening remarks and brief introduction. Dr. C. Jayanth, postgraduate of Community Medicine presented the epidemiology, with a focus on the prevalence and incidence. Dr. Phaneendra, Professor & Head of Forensic Medicine discussed the legal aspects of the HIV infected people. Dr. G.B. Pavani, postgraduate of DVL presented the mucocutneous aspects. Dr. Hima Vinutha, postgraduate of DVL discussed about the systemic manifestations. Dr. Anusha, postgraduate of DVL discussed the laboratory diagnosis. Dr. Khaja Obaidullah Shaik, Assistant Professor of General Medicine discussed the treatment and management of the patients of AIDS. Dr. Geethanjali, postgraduate of Community Medicine discussed prevention and control of HIV/AIDS in the community. In the end, Dr. Chandrasekhar summarized the programme. In the end, final remarks were given by Dr. Vijay Mohan Rao, Professor & Head of Dermatovenereology and Dr. M.V. Naga Bhusanam, Professor & Head of General Medicine. About 300 persons attended the programme including the medical students, faculty and postgraduates from the departments of Community Medicine, DVL, Gen Medicine and Gynecology
