CREATING CAPITAL FOR A WORLD CLASS PUBLIC HEALTH SYSTEM IN OUR REGION 5 th ANNUAL PUBLIC HEALTH CONFERENCE IN THE NORTH WEST 13 th and 14 th OCTOBER 2008 at the BT Convention Centre, Liverpool Announcement, Programme and Registration form AN INVITATION TO COLLEAGUES IN: public health, environmental health, local government, academia, health and social care, nursing, sexual health, mental health, ethnic health, arts & health, health promotion and protection, health in the community, the voluntary sector, Police, Fire and Ambulance services and anyone interested or involved in public health issues to attend the 5th annual Public Health Conference in the North West. Conference aim: creating capital for a world class public health system for our region. Building capital is the key to creating and sustaining thriving communities (Robert Hill The Politics of Place) and this conference will look at the six building blocks human, physical, social, cultural, environmental and future capital and their role in public health. Keynote speakers include Ruth Hussey, Regional Director of Public Health, Matthew Taylor, Chief Executive RSA, Jude Kelly, Chair of the Olympic Culture and education Committee for London 2012, Steve Smith, Olympic bronze medallist, Angela Coulter, Chief Executive Picker Institute for Europe, Mike Farrar Chief Executive, NHS North West and guest speaker Phil Redmond, Deputy Chair responsible for creative direction, Liverpool Culture Company. There will be interactive parallel sessions in the morning and afternoon which we are repeating to enable delegates to attend more than one please see programme for details. The cost to attend this conference is 150 per day that includes a delegate pack, lunch, refreshments and the evening reception on Monday 13 th October. Concessions are available for those purchasing a 2 day ticket (see registration form). This cost does not include hotel accommodation. There is accommodation available at a number of nearby hotels and information will be provided with the acknowledgement of your registration. It is the responsibility of individual delegates to arrange and pay for their own hotel accommodation.
