THE ICEMAN'S NEW ARTIST SPOTLIGHT Spensha Baker A native Virginian and San Antonio, Texas-based urban gospel/country-soul singer and songwriter, Spensha Baker made her debut in 2004 as a child contestant on Star Search, and by her late teens was a full-fledged recording artist on Interscope. A string of well-received singles and a full-length LP in 2008 helped to establish her in the gospel world, but it was her appearance on season 14 of The Voice in 2018 that helped make her a star. www.themakeupdiet.com/ Born in 1993 in Hampton, Virginia, Baker spent her childhood moving around the U.S due to her parents' military stints. Her powerful voice was obvious by the age of seven, and Baker's mother encouraged the young singer to perfect and make use of her unique gift. Baker landed a spot on The Inspirational Network's Christian Artist Talent Search show, which in turn led to her being a contestant on CBS' Star Search when she was only 12 years old. Ron Fair, chairman of Geffen Records, was a judge on the show, and although Baker wasn't the winner, Fair recognized her considerable talent and signed her to Interscope. A first single, a remake of the Clark Sisters song "Hallelujah" produced by Warryn Campbell, was released in 2008, followed by a full-length debut album, Outloud!, later that same year. After her record deal was up, Baker moved to Nashville with her mother, where she became enamored with country music, but she eventually moved back to Texas and got her real estate license. In March 2018, she auditioned for The Voice by performing the Beatles' "Blackbird," and was received warmly by both Kelly Clarkson and Blake Shelton. She chose the latter team and made it all the way to the finale, where she finished in fourth place after performing the original song "Old Soul," As a pilot I have been looking for a quality travel guitar for years. I was always disappointed until I got my stow-away. The quality, playability, and tone is impressive. It is just as good as any other popular name brand guitar that I own. It looks great and easily fits into my carry on luggage without taking up too much room. The customer service is exceptional. Jim checked in to make sure that I was happy with the product, and I have never had that happen with any other product that I've order online before. I would highly recommend one of these for anyone in the market for a quality travel guitar. ~~~Nick Boyd Performance Quality & Full Scale Travel Guitars Never be without your instrument. About The Iceman's New Country Chart Some of the parameters of the formula that go into determining the Iceman s New Country Chart. Reaction to song and requests received by listeners and fans The music has to be in the Iceman's New Country Radio rotation and sent either directly from the artist or official representative of their team or Distribution Service Song Quality and is it Radio Ready Quality of the finalized production Social Media & Website Presence of the artist and song Is Artist actively playing shows and openers Trackable downloads of song (Mediabase, ReverbNation, Soundcloud, itunes, Amazon, etc) Trackable spins of song (CDX, Mediabase, Billboard, Texas Regional etc) Syndication Show Affiliates input to us Strength of current chart Reputable Online article from Rolling Stone Country, CMT, Taste of Country, Nash Country Daily, etc All of the parameters in the formula are weighted and no one category alone is too strong or weak enough to make or break an artist from charting, we look at the whole picture. No one else in the world has this exact formula or uses it. Remember we receive hundreds of songs per week. The competition to make this chart is fierce, and deservedly so. We stand by the formula as we had for over 5 years now, and it is always getting tweaked so that we stay the leading chart in New Country Music. We get many people asking why a particular artist or even themselves are not on the chart. There are only 80 positions in the world of thousands that qualify. Hard work and persistence gets results!
